My god. I wonder, based on the behaviour of Crawley fans we've witnessed this season, how applicable the phrase "the fish rots from the head down" is? Mind you, if he called me a "Greek bobble head" it wouldn't be my head that would be bobbling.

However sceptical we may be about Crawley Town's new crypto-owners, they have to be given credit for taking swift action and suspending Yems.
There's a reputational issue here. Promoting a black assistant to be stand-in manager (one wonders how he got on with Yems 🙄) helps to repair the damage.

Off The Line preview the games in Sky Bet League Two LINK Based on their predictions we will miss out on the play offs. Exeter 1 1 PV Mansfield 2 0 FGR Walsall 0 3 Swindon Harrogate 2 3 Us I personally will be surprised if they got those results correct but we shall see in a little less than 24 hrs now.

They also said “ Matt Gray also showed signs of panic with his substitutions” so I wouldn’t trust their reviews 😉

Just as an aside re points making prizes 🙇♂️ ( sorry). I have been looking at the final results of EFL but League 2 in particular for 2006. Champions were Carlisle 86 points GD +42 2nd Northampton 83 points GD+26 3rd Leyton Orient 81 points GD+16 Playoffs between: 4th Grimsby 78 points GD+20 5th Cheltenham 72 points GD+12 6th Wycombe 71 points GD+16 7th Lincoln 66 points GD+12 and the 8th team missing out was Darlington on 63 points with GD+6 The two relegated teams were Oxford United on 49 points and Rushden on 45 points
Unbelievable when you see Sutton 8th on 76 points and Darlington 8th on 63 13 points less. They won 16 and drew 15 for 58 goals whereas we scored 69 goals.

The last time 76 points didn't make the play offs in L2 was 2007-8.
I'm pretty sure (but happy to be corrected) that no team has ever got 76 points and not made the play offs i.e. we've achieved the highest point score for an 8th placed team in L2 history (with 24 teams).

This confused me until I looked at the league table for that season and now see you meant the last time 76 points wouldn't have made the playoffs had the 8th placed team achieved this, but they didn't (7th place 78 pts; 8th 69). No final day scramble for playoff places that year! Also you're right - I have looked all the way back to the start of this division and we do indeed have the highest ever points total for an 8th place team.

One of the differences this season was that Scunthorpe and Oldham were so poor, and accrued so few points, that all the teams further up gained more than would normally have been the case.

That's what I was thinking about the season Andy mentioned where there were 9 points between 7th and 8th place. The top teams were clearly a lot better than the bottom ones that season too.
(Just to add to that: if we'd known before the season started that there would be such a wide gulf between the best teams at the top and the poorer ones at the bottom, how many of us would have guessed we'd end up in the former camp?! Certainly not me.)
