Skybet have compiled odds for next season. They have Salford City as favourites, with Stevenage Town and Barrow going down. They expect us to finish third from bottom.

Staying up in our inaugural season in League 2, I'll take that!

Most places have us 50-1 to win the league which are the same for Scunthorpe and have us bottom of the pile. We're 10-1 to get promoted. Again bottom.

In all honesty, odds mean nothing when the transfer window hasn't even opened yet, the make up of the division isn't finalised and some teams don't even know who their manager will be.
I can imagine this time last season we were nowhere close to being odds on to win the league, and even well into the season the situation was similar.
Does anyone know what our odds to be champions were at the start of last season?

Yes, pre-season odds of around 30/1, if memory serves me correctly.

Yes, pre-season odds of around 30/1, if memory serves me correctly. looking back on the forum to August 2021 Betway according to brisfitboy had us at 25-1 to win the league outright with Notts County and Stockport at 9/2 joint favourites

Of course there's no such thing as a losing book, so if everybody and his dog piled in on Stevenage then they would become favourites.

Thank you very much Oohah for the reminder! I usually stick the U's fixtures in a sleeve and hang it on the wall. If I have any football bets I put the slips in it. When the fixtures went piriform I took the sleeve down and put it in a drawer. After a hurried rescue - I have a £5 e/w slip in my hand which will return £141.25. I had forgotten all about it. I will definitely hand Mr Coral back £10 if they are offering 50/1 U's to win L2 for another £5 e/w.

I suppose that's why it's always fun to put a quid or two on them.
I often put money on Manchester United to win the Premier League so that if they do I won't be too disappointed.

"Prediction: A small squad and lack of new signings will probably check any substantial progress for Sutton this season. The first team looks solid and much will depend on whether or they are hit by injuries. Providing luck does not desert them, another lower mid table finish should be on the cards." Looks like luck deserted us, guys...

To be fair it was quite a good article. You can’t predict managers being sacked/leaving and injuries to teams. I don’t think there were many of us predicting a Sutton championship season. I will admit I was only looking at getting more than 50 points at the stage he wrote it.

Yeah, he did get a few right and I wouldn't even dream of trying to predict every team's league position at that point in the season. Nobody would get them all right.
