So here we go ( although I have to miss this). I suspect Matt will want to give everyone some minutes. Will we have extra trialists?

Hoping to attend tomorrow evening so will be keeping a close eye on the squad and if we field any trialists.
Only been to Chesham once but that was for the Cup tie against Aylesbury where Matt Hann scored that wonder goal.

I’ve obviously missed something but how is it that away fans are allowed to games now? I thought that wasn’t possible until Monday.

I will have to refresh my understanding to give a truly accurate answer, but Chesham as a Southern Premier League club operate at level 7 in the pyramid, or Step 3. The Covid protocols we faced last season, and which presumably still apply (although in practice for us don't as we can't host fixtures currently), applied to Steps 1 and 2.

I believe the "no away fans" rule was put in place by the leagues rather than the government. Hence for a friendly match it doesn't apply. The only stipulation here from the government is the capacity limit on grounds, which is why the Maidstone game is all ticket.

Decent run out last night. Won 2-0 with goals in the 2nd half by Ajiboye going round 4 of their players, and of course Dundo, who possibly scored with his shoulder. Solid showing from the new signings, and "A Trialist" impressed me. Chesham seemed to take it a bit too seriously in the first half with their No5 being spoken to by the ref on more than one occasion. Lovely ground and a pleasant way to start the pre-season. Chesham's keeper, Sam Beasant (son of Dave) was very polite at the end of the game and wished us luck for the season.

Lovely ground and a pleasant way to start the pre-season. Wasn’t it just - felt like a bit of a throwback visiting a ground that was quite the norm for us 20 years ago! Of the new additions signed in the summer, Boldewijn, Smith and Wilson started the first half with Korboa featuring in the second 45 (Kizzi is nursing a slight knock and Bennett has only had one training session thus far), thought Korboa in particular was lively and put in a terrific cross for Dundo to score our second late on. Agree: trialist in the second half - he partnered Goodliffe at the heart of the defence and sent a superb cross field ball over to Ajiboye to opening the scoring - could be a good addition as fourth centre-back. Hopefully no knocks/niggles incurred - onto what would seem a tougher test at Maidstone on Saturday.

Maidstone beat Sheppey 6-0 last night. Roarie Deacon scored one of the goals.

Not sure how much we can see into beating a club 6-0 from several levels below. But it was entertaining and attacking football. Will be more interested to see how we do against yourselves, and newly relegated Southend.
