However bad it is, it is literally the 2nd article the local Guardian has on us in around 4 years. I look with envy at other clubs who actually have decent local reporting, and remember when the Sutton Guardian did that. Now it's not even worth looking at.

A “Local Democracy Reporter” is probably a job experience school person who was given the task to get them out of the office as there was nothing else for them to report on in the whole of south west London as The Sutton and Croydon usually do, that’s why the article is a ‘bit’ off kilter re timings. And as for piegate it shows how crap and hard up the rag must be for news content.

That is really poor - and where were they 2 months ago when this was actually a news story?

Must be the daughter of the reporter who asked the late Keith Blunt about his feelings before the most important match of his managerial career (a first round FA cup match!). I think his reply was something like "do your homework".

Hah! I love the crappy photo, where it looks like something the size of a large garden shed is being rebuilt. Such sweep... And, we were not made 'famous' by pie-gate, we were made 'infamous'. Get it right!!

It's laughable to say that's what made us famous when it happened during an FA Cup 5th round match we were playing as a non-league side against a Premier League team, on live TV, after having beaten three EFL clubs to get there including Leeds.

Precisely this. It is absurd to suggest the club was made famous by piegate, given that millions of people worldwide were already watching the game before the event in question happened. It's putting the cart before the horse, and then some.

I hate to say this and don't mean to sound sexist but it looks like it's written by a woman who knows nothing about football.
Second tier? That would be the Championship. Have we been promoted that far? I think it's ridiculous calling it League 2 anyway and to me it will always be the fourth division.
I think for a "local paper" it's probably all of London.

You do sound sexist. "Written by someone who knows nothing about football" would have sufficed, which is probably what you'd have said if it were a man.

Having written this one myself I can assure you it is a better read than the article the thread is talking about haha

The gender of the author is irrelevant Dave. We've seen plenty of crap written about us over the years by males and we've never needed to push the gender of the author front and centre.
