Having faced a step 3 club on Tuesday we now go up a level to face National League South side Maidstone United. Maidstone were midtable when proceedings were brought to a halt at step 2, albeit with a fair number of games in hand and should be a good test for us. We are likely to see an appearance by The Magic Man Roarie Deacon who, of course, needs no introduction!

Sad to hear this. I wish whoever is unwell a very speedy recovery.

Of course all we know is that somebody in the Sutton camp has tested positive. That person isn't necessarily symptomatic. Obviously we wish any sufferer a speedy recovery, but this may be more of an inconvenience than a cause for concern, with the squad members presumably having to self-isolate. With the Delta variant on the rise, we can expect to see more of this happening across football during the coming weeks.
Confirmation of my refund for the Maidstone game came through today without me having to do anything. All seems very efficient.

Not ideal preparation for our first season in the Football League but sadly these things happen.

It's not yet clear whether the squad will be clear to play at Haringey Borough on Tuesday.

Evidence suggests Covid can cause long term health problems even if you're initially asymptomatic. Fortunately that seems to be less likely if you're vaccinated.

Get well soon Louis.

We know more now than we did a few days ago. It does sound as if Louis is over the worst, which is encouraging. Fingers crossed that he makes a full recovery and that the rest of the squad are OK.

This is a dangerous illness for many, vaccinated or not its not something people should want to catch or see as just an inconvenience - Get well soon Louis, fingers crossed no long covid. Anyone know what the COVID rules are for clubs from tomorrow? I mean red, amber zones, separate changing rooms etc. Has that all gone out the window now?
