I know it’s a bit ‘prem’ but on the BBC sport website they are doing their usual preseason predictions and for League 2 I’ve predicted 1st Bristol Rovers 2nd Tranmere 3rd Newport County and 4th Sutton United. Am I being daft?

The caveat I'd give to any league prediction is the following. How many people predicted that we would win the National League last year? I'll give you a clue. It was zero.

Craig Eastmond talking on TalkSPORT on the Hawksbee and Rushden show on Tuesday said that we'll be aiming for the playoffs. I reckon we won't be far off if we get the rub of the green.

I love that attitude. That's precisely what I was hoping our players' mentality would be. Saying I'd be happy if we finish 19th is not to belittle our prospects, rather that I consider staying up in itself would be an impressive achievement. That's not to say I don't think we're capable of more. Roll on Saturday, I can't wait! |

Until we are a few games in its very difficult to know the strength of league 2.
A lot of us will remember the voices of doom who predicted we would struggle if we dared to go up to National league south and the same with the top division.
Managers adapt their teams to the higher level and no doubt over the course of the next few seasons this will happen.
Financial stability is the most important criteria in the league in my opinion. I feel sure that now we have joined the 92 we can go from strength to strength. No longer a Non league part time outfit we can attract local fans who previously may have been attracted to the big boys but are put off by their pricing.
Let's get this season underway with a win at Forest Green !

To be honest, I've little idea of how we'll do this season. It's uncharted water for the club. I'm just going to enjoy the ride. I will say though that keeping Matt and almost all the key players from last season constitutes grounds for cautious optimism.

I think we can compete in L2. But there will be adjustments to be made as we find our feet.
I hope not too many people get on the team's case, too quickly, if we suffer a string of losses. We've become slightly unused to it.
