Maybe just keep your comments to yourself then. No real need to start a thread on it. 🤐

Maybe just keep your comments to yourself then. No real need to start a thread on it. 🤐 The thread i started was mainly a compliment to the new regime and everything else i said was 100% true and i am sorry if you have been offended but i dont see why i should keep my comments to myself. Also i have been advised how much the shop took on Saturday and it was more than the old shop would have taken in months!I have no problem with the Supporters Club as i was once on the Comitee and also ran the coaches for a while before i moved out of the area.

As an ex chairperson twice and committee member still am for many years. I am very concerned and have an idea who you are talking about being in my time on the committee. If you could contact me on my contact details Very much appreciated. I have already replied to your first thread about the old club shop and the working in those days. But do not agree calling it tatty and not a proper club shop (Capitals) and appreciate the comments from SUFC 1898 Aug 31. It was a sad day for the present committee (No Further Comment) but the right decision by the football club to move the club shop into the car park to maximize merchandising and already making a good impression. Football has changed a lot since the days when were in the Isthmian league, Conference, and National League and now in. the EFL with much bigger crowd's. So your comments about the old club shop and the takings last Saturday is expected. No comparison The Supporters'Club will still exist in a much reduced way with an In stadium hub which has already been written about to serve the Members and Supporter's

I am still a comparatively 'new' SUFC supporter compared with many of you. I think the new club shop is splendid. However I much appreciated the old shop for a number of reasons. In my early days when I didn't know anybody it was somewhere to pop in and receive a very friendly welcome. I much appreciated that from the start and it was such a convenient place to speak to supporters club committee members and our most helpful coach organiser!

Since joining this forum three months or so ago I've made no secret of the fact that my first football love is Huddersfield Town, and always will be. However, I’ve opted to buy a ST for Sutton United this season rather than for Town. I’ve overwhelmingly been a watcher of the EFL of course rather than non-league, although I’ve fairly regularly watched Sutton United for well over 30 years as well as local non-league sides (I was at Leatherhead v Carshalton only on Monday).
What I can say is that I’m very impressed and assured by the improvements SUFC have already made in a very short period of time to the infrastructure at GGL, including the club shop. I would say the vast majority of EFL clubs (from Championship level to L2) have club shops with 6-day a week access from the street, so by moving the club shop to the car park SUFC are providing that service.
I’m not meaning to be in any way disrespectful to SUFC but, by comparison to many in the EFL, the club shop is “modest” in size and range of merchandise, but so what? SUFC have to walk before they can run, and I expect (from the outside) the club will be aware of this fact and will doubtless have longer term plans, naturally aligned to retention of its standing in the EFL, to improve on all services, including the club shop.
I have no doubt, as SUFC visit the many new grounds, that the relevant committee members, or other such club representative, will take the opportunity to see what other clubs are able to offer their supporters, starting this Saturday at Colchester United (where, incidentally I saw Huddersfield Town play in the first ever league game there at their new ground).

JohnP is right in what he is saying. We're now in the football league, and the bar for almost everything we have to do is higher. This of course applies to the club shop and the main issue of having access to it, especially outside of matchdays. You'll struggle to find any club in this league that has a club shop only open on matchdays and only accessible to home supporters after they've paid to get in. Carrying on the way it was before just simply wasn't an option, from a practical or financial standpoint. And none of what I've said is in any way personal or applicable to anyone who ran the shop before. We've just had to change with the times.

Open between 10am and 12pm Monday to Friday. Have to admit I had to close it 5 minutes early today due to a work emergency I had to go and sort out so apologies if you just missed out, but we'll be open again at 10am tomorrow

Whilst I appreciate the efforts of the previous volunteers in the club shop; however, I personally think having the shop where it now stands serves a much better purpose for the club and for the community as a whole.
It is also nice that supporters and visitors can go in there on non-match days now to buy goods which can only boost the funds of the club. The racks and shelves are considerably stocked, more tidier and conveniently prices on items are more visible to the eye.
I popped in there after the Palace game and the amount of people buying stuff was pleasing to see as this would not have happened in previous seasons when the shop would have been closed. I believe takings have also been significantly higher than before.
Well done to all involved.

The Supporters'Club will still exist in a much reduced way with an In stadium hub which has already been written about to serve the Members and Supporter's As has been alluded to, this like a lot of things, is in transition, not the end state. It is not the intention of the Board to see a "reduced" Supporters Club or offering generally to supporters, be they in the Supporters Club, or Vice-Presidents, or any other category. The Club has grown and we intend for it to grow further still. It makes no sense to have a reduced capability or capacity in the delivery to Supporters. Over time it would give me personally great pleasure to see a growing number of supporters and a thriving Supporters Club. It's not for me, or the Board, to dictate the direction, or how this comes about but it would make us proud to see more than a single coach organised for Away fixtures, to see an Overseas Supporters Club, for instance, and no doubt many other changes too. We are ready to assist, not take over. John can no doubt provide more details, but my understanding is the Supporters Club AGM is this month and it would be pleasing to hear of new recruits and new ideas as part of this "upward" momentum across the Club.

One way you could get more supporters is add the supporters club too the season ticket. So if you buy a season ticket you get member ship off the supporters club, just add the price to the season ticket. It would give people a reason too join. Just one idea.⚽️
