I was very impressed with the floodlights tonight. For the first time in forever my ancient eyes were able to follow the action at the far end. Very little dazzle too if you accidentally looked at them. Little or no spillage in to spectator areas too. Perhaps a little dim in the corners? Well done to all those involved in that.

The basic requirement is an average level across the pitch of at least 500 Lux. Our LOWEST reading is 495 Lux (yes, it is in one corner) but in many places on the grid it is over 600 Lux.

Thought the lights were great with no issue in the corners when compared to the previous ones. Tv highlights do not do them credit as it does look dark in the corners for some reason.

I was talking to the floodlight contractor over the weekend. They provide the lighting for most PL grounds and the few that do not use them are considering switching. One of their big markets is Texas, where stadia for school football (you know, the "other" kind) can seat 30,000-40,000 people.
Our light spillage into neighbouring properties has been measured at roughly one tenth of what it was last year, despite us more than doubling the average Lux level on the pitch.

So glad that we can appease those that move next to a large sporting venue then complain 😄
