Sad news announced on Twitter by Hendon FC that Terry Howard has died.
Terry was a barrel chested left winger who played for Sutton in the 1969 Amateur Cup Final and also against Leeds United in January 1970.
He scored the winning goal for Hendon in the 1960 AC Final having joined them from Harwich and Parkeston and later joined Enfield before Sid Cann brought him to Sutton.
His many representative honours included being capped by England Amateurs.
His son also called Terry was a centre back who played for Woking.

Thanks for posting that Mark.
Terry did come as a guest to a couple of our reunion events in recent years and was a pleasure to talk to. He was an important member of a very good Sutton team.
Sad News - RIP Terry.

I was fortunate to see Terry Howard play for the club. Below is a photo of the great amateur cup final side he played in. RIP Terry.

Yes as soon as I saw his name on a thread I feared the worst. I remember him well. RIP Terry.
As mentioned above he worked at Billingsgate and didn't he sometimes work there on a Saturday morning before playing in the afternoon.

Terry apparently nearly missed the Leeds United game due to heavy traffic around the ground.

A deserved crowd favorite in the 1960s - correct me if I am wrong Mark as it's a bit hazy - but did he not score a marvelous 4th goal against Hillingdon Borough on that glorious mid-week evening in early 1970 - David Coleman on the BBC even commented on it!
RIP Terry

Very sad news regarding Terry Howard. Remember seeing him play when I was quite young and seeing the picture what Stewart put on here brings back happy memories. R.l.P. Dear Terry.
