Wrexham are confirmed for FIFA22, their owners are out with the usual humour taking about it, tweet here Is that official from EA? The EA FIFA 22 website doesn't list the National League as playable in the updated league list from 2 days ago (https://www.ea.com/games/fifa/fifa-22/news/fifa-22-all-leagues-clubs-teams-list). Some rumours still that Wrexham could be a playable team and listed within the 'Rest of the World' teams but they're not mentioned in that news story either. Unfortunately not. The National League addition was reported by some news sites in July/August, but it turned out to be false.

It has often been said that age is but a number and yesterday on the 20th aniversary of 9/11 we saw two moments that encapsulated that saying at both ends of the sporting age spectrum. There was the incredible achievement by a young woman tennis player but before that was an ocasion more closer to home. Watching Craig Dundas make his EFL debut at 40 plus made my afternoon as much as the team earning the three points did and thus making club history with their first EFL victory. Perfect scenario for both to occur within the same 90 minutes. Should the EFL ratify that Dundo became the oldest footballer to make his league debut will be the icing on a decent sized cake.
The match itself was another odd affair. The first half wasn't the best and although U's looked the better side it was Stevenage who came closest when Norris, with the aid of a slight nudge on his marker (I note that because of what occurred later) headed against the cross bar.
The second half was a livelier affair and Stevenage's opener came out of the blue because their visits to the Sutton half to that point of the second period had been few and far between. It was a well struck finish by List. U's hit back quickly with Richie B heading home from Joe K's cross. This time it was Richie who benefited from the nudge. Not long after with U's marauding all over the Stevenage defence came the penalty incident. No argument it was handball but was it a red card offence? Not sure the Quest coverage ironed that out one way or t'other. The ref came over to ask the lino but as the assistant probably had the same viewing angle as I did, not sure he could have made a decision either way. Off went Vancooten.
U's fired in some impressive efforts at goal but couldn't extend the lead and Stevenage showed more attacking intent with ten than they had eleven. It made for a compelling watch and U's were thankful for a lino's flag cancelling out a fine finish by Daly (I think). Five added minutes were endured before the majority of GGL could celebrate a piece of history.
Considering the ten days or so that had preceded the match this was a fine win. With a number of the squad unavailable, those who had not had so much game time thus far stepped up to the plate and showed what a decent set of players Matt G ha brought together. We were strong down both flanks and generally solid in the middle. Richie B dropped off a little to leave Tobi S-S up front and both worked hard, the former rewarded by two goals.
With all the absentees it was a blow to see Jon B have to leave proceedings in the fifth minute while Louis J (victim of a poor tackle that should have attracted a yellow card) and Richie B both needed treatment.
So, off and running win wise with Hartlepool next. Another tough match and watch out for Skerry's left boot. He hit the woodwork at GGL last season and scored yesterday.

Watching the highlights, that assist from Kizzi was sublime!
Top result and a pleasure to behold. First half was pretty dull, although I don't know if it was two sides cancelling each other out or both sides being too cautious. Second half was obviously much better.
Amazingly Bennett managed to do in 5 mins what Tranmere have managed in 7 games. Great to see Randall get a run out too and already having moments showing us what we've been missing with him injured.
Hopefully Barden isn't too crocked.
Oh and of course Dundo. I don't think I need to add what others have already wonderfully said.
No fear on Tuesday. As per last season, Hartlepool are fantastic at home, but not great away. We can do it.

We have heard back from the EFL and while it's not quite as simple as a yes/no answer, we are pretty sure that we can say that Dundo is the oldest post-war debutant in the Football League, and probably second overall. That's because in 1923 Sheffield Wednesday's 46 year old physio (or trainer as he would have been called then) was forced to start their game at Port Vale owing to the fact that two players had missed the train to the game. Apparently he lasted 35 minutes before having to leave the pitch (no substitutes in those days), but as he had never played in the Football League before, even though he didn't play again, it has to count as a debut. www.swfc.co.uk/news/2020/april/the-tale-of-swfc-record-breaker-jerry-jackson/There is a caveat that the EFL does not have a 100% record of players' birthdates, there are about 1,800 mainly pre-war players with no date of birth information, so if any of those were over 40 when they made their debuts it may not be known about.

One minor point of detail, Jackson wasn’t substituted as substitutes didn’t exist in 1923; he was simply removed from the action and Wednesday played the rest of the game with 10 men.

According to Stevenage Town's match report we used to play on AstroTurf. The iFollow commentary also made that mistake.
