Well, after 2 (two!!) whole days of complete abstinence, last night was wortha celebratory dram or two (I don't like whisky).
Cracking result, sexy table. What was the attendance for the last two games?

What was the attendance for the last two games? Home attendances so far: Oldham 3,262 Stevenage 2,427 Hartlepool 2,484 It's noteworthy that last night's attendance was slightly higher than Saturday's. Good turnout from the Poolies for a midweek fixture!

Good performance and a lovely 3 points. First half was very good and we had total control. At times just need to have a little more composure to pick the right option in final third but you’d say there are certainly more goals in us. A bit of a rocky last 10 but that’s always likely if you don’t get the comfort of the extra goal or 2. Overall well pleased and the table probably, if anything, underplays our start. Lastly great to see Dean returning to form, as we knew he would, with a couple of superb saves - after the event that’s even more ideal for us as a huge confidence boost and he’ll be feeling so much better after contributing so well to consecutive home wins. Small differences and just a bit of the run of the ball last 2 games have turned narrow defeats/draws into wins. Our squad this season is significantly better than last season, we have proper competition and options, things are looking extremely positive. Oh, and still Olaofe to come back to fitness.

Excellent performance last night, especially in the first half. Hartlepool couldn't get out of their half for long periods.
A couple of amazing saves from Dean.
In the first half we kept our shape superbly but as Hartlepool pressed for an equaliser in the second half we were certainly stretched at times but the lads did extremely well to hold firm. The Poolies must have got a rocket at HT as they came out and were far more physical in the second half. The ref, who had a fairly decent first half, then let them get away with cynical foul after cynical foul. It seemed that every time we had a promising attack they would shirt pull or stick out a leg, often off the ball which was seen but no cards handed out. Because of this the game very nearly got out of control as frustrations boiled over.
One thing I'd like to see when it's greasy is for our shots and headers not being at such a lovely height for the keeper to palm away. It would be nice to see a few bounce off the turf and see how the keeper deals with those as they skid on. Also Enzio and David when they cut inside and unleash a shot into the corner need to get more power on these as Killip had plenty of time to palm away. Minor points and in no way a criticism.
Well done lads. Can't wait till Saturday.

If you can't blame the pitch, blame the referee. Not just sour grapes, but inarticulate sour grapes.

If you can't blame the pitch, blame the referee. Not just sour grapes, but inarticulate sour grapes. The ref was not bad really. We were just too much for them and first to the ball... That said, considering we dominated the game, they still had some good chances when they got on the ball. Dangerous side, I think it was a good 3 points.

What a dreadful response to a deserved defeat. I expect better from Challinor. The ref was inconsistent because he failed to deal with the cynical fouls and off the ball stuff that they were constantly pulled up for as the match entered the latter stages. They got away with a few heavy challenges in the first half too. Yet the first yellows were for a handbags incident involving Omar minutes after he came on.
This was a Premier League ref on his way back from an injury, his first match of the season and having been generally ok for the first 70 he faltered thereafter. On that showing he is well off the PL at present.
Challinor should look at himself. Had he started the no 3 down the left the outcome may have been different because they looked a handful following that change and Dean B's two brilliant saves came from moves from the left flank.
A great three points from a fine performance by all involved. We really put them under the cosh in the first half and probably should have been more than Ben G's goal up. Challinor's change gave them more of an attacking threat but it was not enough.
Good turn out by the visiting support for a midweek fixture; how ridiculous of the EFL to make them travel so far for a Tuesday night. However, a shame they first resorted to the usual old rubbish chants. Still, having apparently poor support doesn't appear to stop a team winning a football match at least not last night.
Onto Exeter. I just hope I am sober enough to realise what is going on or remember any of it later.

I wonder if he would have complained so much if Hartlepool had won?!?!

Steering away from the fact they’ve been distinctly 2nd best. Textbook manager response. He should count himself very fortunate the referee seemed to forget for the majority of the match that cards are given out for blatant and cynical infringements in dangerous areas. They got off very lightly disciplinary wise.

Another good dominating performance apart from the last 10 minutes coinciding with their substitutions. According to the stats we had 19 shots and scored only once. That is just over 5% success rate. Enzio needs to get his head over the ball and get the ball on target. Not all shots need to go in the top corner.

Great result and a great 3 points, although I went away a little disappointed, especially on the first half. I've not seen Sutton so dominant in a game this season in that first half, and only managing to go in 1-0 at half time made me think "is this going to be enough"
obviously it was enough, not only due to Bouzanis being superb in the 2nd half (when he had nothing to do in the first), but also some amazing defending, and Goodliffe for me really stood out last night. There was a period in the first half of about 10 minutes where he literally stopped every Hartlepool attack.
Now we sit in our highest ever league position (15th, improving on our 16th earlier in the season). If we scored two more goals and got a 3-0 victory, we'd be sitting in 13th, above Salford and Barrow with a game in hand over both of them. But of course it matters where we are on 40 league games time, rather than now.
Two wins on the bounce. That's more like it.
Oh and happy birthday Mr Frake, hope you have a smashing day.

I wonder if he would have complained so much if Hartlepool had won?!?! amazing how often the ref is dreadful when your team lose. There was plenty of moaning about the ref when we lost to Oldham, who imho was absolutely fine. Funny ole game

Not the most inspirational manager. his 1st point is obviously a thing other managers seems to have sussed very quickly though. Sutton start aggressively and quickly, and if you can stay in the game, you've got a great chance when we run out of puff. Which has been true many times.
