From the National League forum: What an utterly appalling side Woking are but they’ll probably make play offs, the new Sutton of the league faking injury, time wasting and diving. The OP forgot to add "and winning lots of games".

All teams engage in time-wasting and other such practices when it is in their interests to do so - although the polite description of this is 'game management'. Sutton have actually faced some criticism this season for the apparent absence of quality game management towards the end of some games - although they appear to have improved somewhat in this regard in recent matches. I can remember occasions in the past when I have been embarrassed by the extent of the time-wasting that Sutton have engaged in (in particular certain goalkeepers) - but I don't think that this has happened so much in recent years. Slightly ironic that this particular criticism originates from Dagenham. If my memory serves me correctly, we won 2-1 at Dagenham last season - scoring a 93rd minute penalty after a quick throw-out from Dean put David away - and he was subsequently brought down in the penalty area. We also won 2-1 at Dagenham in 2018 with a last minute header from Kenny Davis. Not really indicative of a time that engages in time-wasting to hang on for an away point?

At a slight tangent, one thing I like very much about Matt's regime is that we seem to have a much better disciplinary record, now (although I haven't compared any stats). I don;t think we were ever a dirty team but we could go a little wild west on occasion and pick up unecessary cards.

Winning teams waste time, losing teams try to invent time
