I do find it a little frustrating that Matt/the club do not divulge much information on our injured players. I do understand that Matt wants to play his cards close to his chest so as not to give the opposition too much information on our likely line up for forthcoming games - but I do wonder if perhaps we might be taking this a little too far? I may have missed it, but I have no idea what type of injury has side-lined Easty, Kenny, Louis, Will and Ben at various times this season. Premier League managers obviously have to do press conferences - and they appear to divulge more information on their injured players than we do. It's not a big issue - and Matt obviously knows what he is doing. I guess that over the years I've got used to the club/manager being a bit more transparent on issues like this than we appear to be nowadays. Then again, we are obviously playing at a higher level than we ever have done before - so I guess that it's inevitable that we will do things a bit differently.

Personally I don't think we are. I have no issue of not knowing what injury each player has and how long they are especially out for if it means we're not helping the opponents.

Clearly some of this is sensitive information, particularly so with lesser injuries as players may, or may not, "be back" for the next game - unlike those such as Harry (broken bones, major injuries etc.) where it is clear they will be out for some time. It doesn't suit anyone at the Club if the opposition find out in advance of a game what the likely team might be (or who is missing).
Having said that Matt is very approachable, as are most Club "insiders", so you can always try asking any questions on a matchday and often get general, if not specific, answers to player injuries and availability.

I’m of the opinion that player’s availability and injury status should be freely available to the supporters. The higher up the league pyramid we go then the more we should play the PR game. A manager needn’t telegraph the return (or otherwise) of any player, but if, for example, Eastmond is out for a month, then let us know. If he makes a return a week early, no harm done.

I’m astonished! I see no reason why the club should publish any information which might help the opposition prepare until the time that teamsheets have to be submitted on match day. How much does it really impact the pleasure in watching the team to have this information in advance?
For what it’s worth, I’ve had a bad cold which is why I missed the Swindon game, but have tested negative for Covid so expect to be fully fit for Walsall. 😉

The player might meet it, they might return earlier, or carry on injured. I cannot imagine that Walsall’s management is currently deciding tomorrow’s tactics based on our ‘non’ injury disclosures. My stance on this may well be out of kilter with others, but as a mechanism to include the supporters and have them buy-in to the ‘in it together’ ethic, then it’s a no-brainer.

I don't really agree with your premise . For example, Jason spoke about Easty, Louis and Harry in his pre-match interview for today's match. Similarly, Matt - in his programme notes - mentioned that the first two were touch and go for today as well as the nature of Harry's injury and how long he's likely to be out for. Satisfying competing demands is a tricky balance to achieve. I believe the management team do it rather well.
