I've not seen anything on the club site about requiring a covid pass to attend matches but I wanted to check ahead of Saturday (assuming my day 2 result ever turns up...). My understanding of the new rules is that the covid pass rules apply to: - venues which hold 500 people indoors - outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people - any outside venue with more than 10,000 people I'm not quite sure what the difference is between an outdoor and an outside venue...is GGL outside or outdoor? If the latter, does the ground capacity push us into covid pass territory? If a covid pass is indeed required, will my Swiss-issued one be accepted? It seems I would need to make an appointment to get my untrustworthy overseas pass checked and approved for a proper English one...and appointments are like hen's teeth at the moment. The nearest options to Sutton that I've been offered are in Reading, Stevenage, Cambridge, Bristol, Norwich, Sheffield, Leeds and Washington (OK, not DC but not exactly on my doorstep). TL;DR
Do we need a covid pass to attend GGL on Saturday?

Do we need a covid pass to attend GGL on Saturday? Out of what I read for the AFC Wimbledon page a couple of hours ago, it would apply for over 10,000 capacity (with them being just below the line). Also, european pass should be accepted from what I know if there was the case.

Good Morning everyone. The short answer is no, covid passes are not needed at SUFC under the current rules, we are just finalising a more comprehensive update that will go on the website and social media later this morning. I will also post it here.

CLUB STATEMENTWe all know that we are living through uncertain times and, following the announcement of the Government's Plan B measures to combat the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, we thought we should clarify how these measures affect Sutton United. Firstly, our venue falls below the threshold limits set out in Plan B and so there is no need for anyone to have a Covid passport or supply proof of vaccination in order to attend any events in our stadium or bars. However, this does not mean that any of us can relax - far from it - and the club has taken a range of measures to help ensure the safety of everyone who uses our ground. An enhanced regime of cleaning and anti-viral disinfection has been in place for many months and we make hand sanitiser freely available inside the stadium and bars/clubrooms. All members of staff, including volunteers, are instructed to wear face coverings inside the buildings. On match days we have a set of protocols in place for the teams, match officials, media etc that are designed to minimise the risk of spreading infection. This includes establishing and maintaining a Red Zone that is restricted to players and key personnel. Unfortunately this also means that players will not be using the public bars after matches. We would ask that all personnel (players, staff and spectators) obey the following directive:- Do not attend the stadium for any reason if:-
- You are currently symptomatic
- You have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last ten days
- You have been in close contact with someone who has Covid-19 within the last seven days.
It is not a requirement for anyone to wear face coverings inside the stadium or when eating or drinking in the the bars, but everyone should wear a face covering when moving around the club, although we trust everyone will be respectful and tolerant of others, whether they choose to wear a face covering or not. Please also wash your hands regularly or use sanitiser. If possible, we would ask everyone to consider taking a lateral flow test in the 24 hours prior to visiting the stadium and, of course, not to attend if that test is positive, but you will not be asked to do this and no evidence is required. If you start to feel symptomatic after arriving at the stadium, please advise a member of staff or return straight home. None of us likes to have restrictions or conditions imposed on our everyday lives but we are confident that we can all work together to help deliver a safe environment for everyone.

So reducing attendances by 1 helps in the fight against COVID as does wearing a mask when moving around the ground but not required when you are static in the crowd.
I can see this virus is going to be us for a long time to come unless it drops dead of its own accord that is.

I can see this virus is going to be us for a long time to come unless it drops dead of its own accord that is. As I understand it there is no belief that the virus will ever be gone, Just less effective as more and more people build up immunity to it. Problem is, immunity does not necessarily mean you do not carry the virus, you can for a short time. So with a mission of stopping "cases" the future looks daunting. Particularly when mid year we had already achieved the biggest vaccine roll out in the countries history, but it seems its not enough, even after millions have had a booster.
