The reports are really upsetting. Apparently it was so bad the firefighters who were involved are all being sent to therapy. Can't even imagine how terrible this is for family and loved ones.

Shocking news. They just stated on BBC2 that a 27 year-old woman has already been arrested charged with child neglect.

What a dreadful thing to happen, especially a week before Christmas.
We have been in regular contact with the police. It is likely that there will be no access into the recreation ground from Collingwood Road tomorrow. All of our turnstiles will be open but to get to the parkside entrances spectators must take the footpath from Gander Green Lane. This also applies to away supporters.
If driving, please allow more time than usual as surrounding roads may be busier than normal.

It's dreadfully sad.
Getting to the ground, without enetering the Rec from Collingwood Road, it looks (on googlemaps) as though there is an alleyway that runs straight from Collingwood Road, roughly opposite William Hill, all the way to Norman Road, just before that crosses over the West Sutton rail line. Is that public access does anyone know (if my description makes sense)?
Basically. I'm trying to work out the most direct walking route from Sutton station to the GGL entrance without walking through the Rec.

Starts opposite the big block of blue facia flats. Watch your step though. I call it DTA - lots of dog poo!

I believe the part of Collingwood road that is closed is from the railway bridge by Bushey Road to around Chaucer Road so if you are heading from the north (Tescos side) you'll need to go up GGL.

Collingwood Road by Jay Cars is a passage, follow it all the way to West Sutton station. It’s a long walk but does the job, you will cross over a couple of roads but keep going straight.

Answer to Kpinwp's post. Yes there is an alley way from Collingwood Rd to Norman Rd. From Sainsbury's go up Crown Rd to Collingwood Rd ( roundabout) You will see Jaycars garage. The alleyway starts beside the garage. Follow the alley way right through to Norman Rd.turn right over the bridge then turn right again into G G L. Ground on right hand side approx 200yds. Don't get lost!!

Thanks, Andy. I think the public footpath I was considering is clear of that, as its (Collingwood Rd. side) entrance is between Beachamp Rd. and Beulah Rd.
