Admittedly we have only just reached the halfway stage of our league campaign so I’m probably expecting to get shot down on here, however, amazingly we find ourselves in 3rd place which would merit an automatic promotion place to League One.
With the transfer window having just opened I have to wonder what ambitions the club has for the second half of the season considering where we lie in the table. Do we perhaps dip into the market and make a couple of additions to bolster the squad and go for one of these automatic promotion places or do we ‘stick’ with what we’ve got so to speak.
What do we reckon?

Listening to Matt's comments after the game on Saturday, in which the transfer window came up he replied that in view of covid, injuries and a small squad, he said with a smile, that he would be speaking to Bruce on Monday!!

Think Matt will be happy with the squad but did mention in his interview he would be having a word with Bruce Monday 😀. As discussed elsewhere previously it’s very much fingers crossed we can retain everyone. Matt may be in a position to change a couple on the periphery but we likely have to ship out to bring in (in terms of numbers as much as finance). Given who we are we certainly aren’t going to be taking financial risks. I’ve always thought we had a decent shot at top 7 once we kept everyone from last season given the mentality, consistency, work rate and defensive capabilities of this group. Long way to go but we seem to have a chance on evidence to date. We got well used to the one game at a time mantra last season! Zero pressure on us of course which is a nice position to be in.
Likeliest place to strengthen would seem to be centre back given Rowe currently out.

With regards to squad size, all clubs have the same number of players eligible to play. The difference is that what the EFL classifies as scholars are also eligible, but as a new club we only have a few (seven I think) scholars and they are first year scholars.
