Another tough Tuesday night game against old National league opposition. Salford who were one of the pre season favourites had a poor start but have been picking up points recently although still inconsistent.
I'm guessing we could still be without Smith and Davis may not be up for two games in a row so i'm expecting Barden to slot into midfield. Personally i would like to see Bugiel start as i think he gives us that little bit extra over Bennett & Randall back on the wing.

Interesting observation I picked up from recent Sutton podcast was that Salford haven't won for a long time after going behind.

A point probably fair on both teams. Salford attacked with more menace than we did, although our second-half performance up front was much better (with a fine cameo at wing-back from late-substitute Ben Wyatt). From where I was stood it looked as if Salford’s first-half goal (disallowed for hand-ball) was unfairly chalked-off, and Wilson’s 45-minute plus miss (ball hitting the post) should have found the net. Three points from the last three home matches, and with table toppers FGR up next we will do well to add to that modest tally. No moans from me though - it still seems remarkable that we are so high in the table, and that through merit.

A dire game that will not live long in the memory. Two points from 6 at home and going into a game with the leagues runaway leaders. If we win Saturday 5 points will be a good return particularly as our midfield again looks severely depleted.

Agree that Salford had more menace about them especially in the first half. We were a bit on the back foot from the start. As ever a half time talk from Matt usually sees the team pick up and go forward with more threat. It is one of those games were we can commend our defence, clean sheet and another point in the bag. Probably a fair result, I left the ground feeling better than I did after Saturdays game. You'll never beat the Sutton 😁

Yup, this was with little doubt the worst EFL game we've witnessed so far. In a contest of limited chances, neither side was able to shoot with accuracy. It had the air of a poor National League game, increasingly scrappy as it progressed.
The 0-0 result was a repeat of the one up at Salford in August (which had earned us our first EFL point). Having not drawn a league match at home until late January, we've now drawn three in a row. Funny old game.
We started with Omar and Donovan up front, Matt presumably deciding to rotate his forwards during a busy schedule. It did seem that most of our long balls forward were aimed at the shorter of our two front men. There was no Ali Smith again, and Craig Eastmond went off in the second half with a presumed knock, so we ended with Jon Barden and Rob Milsom in central midfield.
Salford's manager Gary Bowyer wasn't happy with their disallowed goal, Thomas-Asante having got the better of an outrushing Dean Bouzanis, but we might have had a penalty later when Louis John was barged over just beyond their keeper's far post, with the ball sailing out of play. Again, the referee decided in the defending team's favour.
This evening's point inches us one short of 50. Will we reach our pass that milestone against the league leaders on Saturday?

Fair result in the end based on the play, I thought we looked a bit jaded in front of goal tonight, not many shots on target and their keeper had very little to do a until a smart save in added time. I can confidently predict we are probably safe from relegation, nearly

I think that Dave's comment had a sense of irony to it.
That's how I construed it anyway.

Obviously not the best game. We really should have taken at least one of our first half chances and then it’s a different game. Think the 2nd half mainly one of the poorest I’ve seen from us this season though we perked up last 5 or 10. Surprised Benno didn’t get at least 10/15 more mins than he got though of course we don’t know if he was carrying a knock from Saturday. Defence largely untroubled though we almost provided a gift for the 2nd game running.
Hopefully better fare Saturday where we will be back to big underdog.
