Good performance from the lads today and an enjoyable watch. Standouts for me were Kenny, Randall and Wyatt
On the goal line clearance I was right in line at at the time didnt think it had crossed. However Mike had his phone out videoing it and from the 'still' I'm now erring towards a goal

Tend to agree with Paul D. Watched the video of the goal line clearance a number of times and it didn't look like it crossed the line. However, looked at a still of the moment that the defender made the clearance - and it does look like the whole ball might have crossed the line. Either way, the match officials could not be blamed if they did get it wrong.

I was over the other side, right in line and looking down on the pitch more. My gut reaction at the time was that it crossed.
However the ball was cleared so quickly it was very hard to tell.

Yes, that still does suggest otherwise but without goal line technology difficult one for the officials (and me!)

FWP has this game down as a 1-1 draw. Which is the result we thoroughly deserved on the opening day of the season. FWP have been wrong the last 3 games though. Our last 3 matches against them have all had the same 2-1 scoreline. One of those to us (famously kicking off that FA Cup run) and two to them (both the last 2 league games). I remember a fine draw at their place in 2016 in our 2nd game back at National League level. Fwp got it spot on!

Much better game than Tuesday's, and a draw was probably the right result. Lovely free kick from Kenny to give us the lead (his first goal as an EFL player 😃), but their wide players combined well for the equaliser. We might have won it late on, but a point against the divisional leaders can't be sneezed at.
We slip to 5th, but have now played seven of the eight league games against the sides above us (just Tranmere at home to come).
The unbeaten run continues, and we surely go into Tuesday's match at Bristol Rovers in confident mood.
I thought Ben Wyatt and Will Randall did particularly well today on our left flank.

I enjoyed the game and very much better than the recent Salford 'not as bad as legend would suggest game' ☺️. Lovely free kick goal from Kenny thats destined for the future show reels. I thought FGR constructed their game well with some clearly worked out passing moves. As you would expect we got stuck in to disrupt these kind of FGR plays. A point against the clear and deserved league leaders that will do nicely.

Just seen the highlights on Quest. No mention on this thread so far of the Forest Green penalty appeal. Not sure what the decision would have been re: the goal line clearance if VAR had looked at it - but the Forest Green penalty appeal looked nailed on. Maybe we got away with one there.
When discussing Sutton's amazing last couple of seasons on Quest, Ian Holloway said 'Watch out Premier League'.

I don't thick the ref got to much wrong, but that was a lulu!

Another windy saturday afternoon, another home match, another draw. Some draws not as good as others this one well merited with a tinge of "if only". That comes from the first half when with the wind advantage, U's carved out some decent chances but only had Kenny D's excellent f-k to show for their efforts. The much lauded Matt and Stevens were thwarted by a collective defensive barrier neither rarely threatening.
The second half FGR had more of the ball and moved it around well on our deterioriating surface (anyone remember our pitch pre 3G?) and eventually there two wing backs combined to set up an equaliser, a fine strike. That was probably one of just two occasions where FGR got round the back the other seeing Dean B make a full stretch save. U's had their moments too including one effort that was cleared off the line although one photo I have seen suggests it was actually over. They had a decent pen shout late on but the generally efficient ref (he didn't have the best last 20 mins) wasn't interested. Honours even on the dodgy calls then.
FGR are top by a distance and why was obvious. Big, physical mobile and well drilled with a 37 goal twin partnership up top. Over two matches with the champions elect, U's have taken just one point but a bit more composure in front of goal could have seen two more yesterday. Even so, a fine Sutton display. Apparently their 'keeper reckons U's were bloody good yesterday and who can argue with that observation?
Fifty points and "safety"; I think U's have been safe for a couple of months, if not mathematically.
A decent crowd with 309 away fans - far more than I was expecting to see tbh, top of the league or not.
The Gas next, assuming the predicted rainfall doesn't postpone the fixture for a second time.

As to the goal line clearance; I was behind the GGL end goal, somewhat to the left of it (so, the side where the clearance happened). In the moment I was fairly sure that the ball had crossed the line. A few seconds later I felt less sure and thought it would have been harsh on FGR if it had been given as a goal. I noticed Andy K was slightly to the left of me. How did you see it, Andy?
