Great effort by the travelling Amber Army especially as some of those would have been at the Wigan game on Tuesday night. How many fans travelled to the game today? 230 apparently

A) how is use of the shoulder a penalty? Up there with the Stevenage game for baffling penalty of the year. Not sure why the insufferable number 9 needed to celebrate his feeble pea roller down the middle which my 78 year old mum would've saved, then celebrate directly in front of the home fans. B) if their keeper spent 3 minutes rolling about in the net then needlessly taking his boot on and off, coupled with at least 4 more minutes of genuine stoppages, where did the ref get just 4 minutes from? C) no wonder korboa has been given such limited game time. Worst performance in a Sutton shirt since Ben jefford against dover. If anyone should've been fresh it was him but he looked Sunday league standard today. Every time we had a chance to stretch them he either lost control of the ball or turned back into traffic. Truly pathetic display which must have been particularly galling for the likes of easty and Omar who ran themselves into the ground on Tuesday.

Not unexpected after the efforts of Tuesday. 6 changes and a couple of injuries in the 1st half to boot. We usually bounce back but the injuries seem to be piling up. Kenny,Ali, Tanto, Harry, Donovan, Deano, John, Barden all unavailable or came off injured today. Goes without saying we could really do with a couple back for Tuesday. Unusual for players coming off on a Sat to be available. Big week ahead if we want to stay in the shake up at the top. If anyone can find a response you’d say it’s this bunch but this season is definitely taking it’s toll on the bodies.

You can't win them all, squad a bit thin, and after the midweek heroics today was never going to be easy.
One thing I would say about the pen, is that Deano gave himself away in the week, when he said he makes a guess and goes. When I used to play in goal I always waited to see the kick before going. Interestingly I would if you think a keeper should wait or guess and go?

After Tuesday's great efforts at Wigan it showed into days game.although Eastie and Co put in another shift to no avail. I have asked this question before. Are referees and officials supposed to be neutral etc.once again the man in charge gave very little to us but plenty to the Walsall team. Has Tom Daly opened another Diving school As it seemed that they were diving all over the place. How NO 9 Wilkinson got man of the match astounds me. He should have been sent off for various reasons especially for the incitement after the penalty ( allegedly he did the same at our home game and also when he was at Dag and readbridge.) I hope that the injuries accured today are not long in healing as we are again low on the ground in personal. I am afraid that R K was not up to div 2 football today after todays showing. As stated in an earlier post. On to Swindon Tuesday were I hope we can get at least a draw.

Plus points. Coby looked good, Neilson looks like a competent keeper dep for when needed, and even though we were not at the races today it took an awful ref to deny us, and we still had chances to nick a point. Keep your heads up guys.

One of the worst games I've seen in a long time. Lacking in quality across the board. But that's not taking anything away from us. With the thin squad we currently have and the heroics we did on Tuesday, it was never going to be a classic.
We were done by a very soft penalty in a game that should really have ended 0 0. Wigan are one of the poorest sides I've seen this season. Scunthorpe had more about them than they did. But in all honesty this is a point lost rather than 3 points lost.
With a tired team, an opponent trying every trick in the book rather than play football and a hopelessly incompetent ref this was never going to be an advert for L2 football. And that's not including the utter embarrassment that is Conor Wilkinson. If he was playing for us in that was, I'd be utterly ashamed.
I think some have been harsh on Korboa. Yes he had a poor game, but you can't judge a player on one performance. The same criticism was aimed this season at Will Randall, and look at how he has turned out. Similar for Deano, who has now rightly become a fan favourite. One player virtually never decides the result and today is no exception.
Expect us to bounce back on Tues.
Edit. When I said Wigan were the poorest side, I meant Walsall. Too many Ws this week! Thanks for spotting it KBB!

Not a great performance from us, but, as others have said, there were mitigating circumstances. Losing three of your starting XI before half-time is always going to disrupt your game plan.
Poor match overall, settled by a somewhat controversial penalty. So Walsall become the first club to do an EFL double over us, despite being one of the poorest sides we've faced this season. C'est la vie.

Just one quick note, we cannot now come bottom of the league and need just 8 more points to secure League football for another season

Just one quick note, we cannot now come bottom of the league and need just 8 more points to secure League football for another season I’m sure that we are mathematically safe already. It’s impossible for every team below us to win every one of their games as they’ll be playing each other for most of them. I’d be interested to see an actual program ran to work this out, but I’m sure even the most unfavourable combination of results for Sutton would still leave us clear of the bottom 2. EDIT - I found a simulator. I’ll run this tonight and get back to you.

Never a penalty. A 40 year old in goal and a 41 year old on the bench. Doubt if that has happened in the Football League before.

Can't say I have the best record this season! P2 L2. That was a truly dismal game and Walsall would have got nothing out of it but for the soft pen. I can't say it was 'never a pen' - Wilkinson made the most of it and then some - but it was clumsy and gave the referee a decision to make. We'd've been clamouring for a pen all day long.
Not the world's greatest location and the "banter" from the Walsall fans at the station matched the dismal backdrop. I am rather concerned that the big lad who made a show of hopping up the overpass to "bring it on" may have had a heart attack at the top!
Two biggies next up. The table is going to be quite fluid and take a while to sort out. We could be anywhere from 2nd to 9th come Wednesday morning!
