A couple of players that Sutton were rumoured to be interested in earlier this Summer - Eprhon Mason-Clark -22 year old striker at Barnet and Lee Tomlin - 33 year old attacking midfield player at Walsall - both become free agents from Friday. The Barnet forum think EMC has another year on his contract so would be a transfer commanding a fee. For that reason would be surprised if he was among the announced signings. |

You are presuming that we wouldn’t sign anyone for a fee and surely he isn’t going to be more expensive than what Peterborough paid for David. We must have a bigger budget this season as we don’t have to lay a new pitch, we can anticipate a conservative increase in away revenue of approx 130k if we only average a 750 away attendance. The club will also have budgeted I suspect for the ground improvements from last years budget and the 200k from the Pizza Cup will probably go towards the improvements necessary to the ground next summer to increase the ground capacity to 2000 seats so they may have a little more wiggle room than would have been budgeted last summer. |

The last line here is spot on. The vast majority of our signings under Matt have been that and have turned out to be superb. Anyone on here who claimed to have known all about Ajiboye before he signed for us probably isn't be honest, and that's why I always chuckle to myself with those who say "x player should be signed". In addition to this we don't need a marquee signing to build the team around. Whenever we have in the past it's not actually worked out how it could have done (Jolly, Fleetwood etc) and this team, as we know is a team without specific stars. Every one of them has shone at different games and different parts of the season. If all of the following signings are players I've never heard of, that's fine by me. Matt, Terry, Jason etc will always know miles better about a player than collectively we ever will. |
