Looks like Terell Thomas could be released by Reading. I realise that Louis and Ben are our star pairing but thought TT was a class act when he played for us on loan It would be nice to see Max or Terell in a Sutton shirt next season. Unfortunately I would imagine they would be expensive acquisitions. The chances are the players we bring in won't have been mentioned on this thread. Spot on. Literally the only signings people may have heard of prior to their signing were Boldewijn, Bennett and Kizzi because we'd played against them. None of us really knew Bouzanis, Randall, Ajiboye, Wilson etc. Personally I don't think resigning a player we had before, especially one under a previous manager is a step forward either. Whilst both Terrell and Max are quality players, we have to remember that Matt signs players to fit into our squad mentality, and as we really don't need a marquee signing, or to sign a player as a fan pleaser in a side that's struggling a bit (one could argue Deacon coming back was exactly that) and of course Matt's recruitment has been top quality since he settled into the club and had the opportunity to build his own team, I'm more than happy in getting players in that we've never heard of!

I think Max would suit us as he is hard working and good in the air (which Matt looks for) would thrive on crosses and set pieces and would also give us goals from that position. If Colchester are interested why not us? We have two striker positions to fill.

I really liked Max, a bit similar to Omar, but subtly different. I got the impression that he enjoyed his time at SUFC, and can remember him applauding us supporters when he returned as a Coventry player in a pre-season friendly. Him, Omar and Ritchie B as target men? Why not?

Three target men? Yes Omar and Richie are good target players. I feel we want an out and out proven goal scorer.( forward ) Yes it was nice to see we scored from different positions last season. Let's see what Matt and his team come up with respect to new signings.

I feel we want an out and out proven goal scorer.( forward ). Yep absolutely - I feel we’ve probably seen the last of Olaofe now, Sho-Silva of course went in January (not saying he was a proven goal-scorer for us though he did grab some goals for Carlisle in the second half of the season) and Kouassi is unproven at this level.

I'm not sure Richie would be able to resist another culb offer after being on the Bench allot this season. I can see allot of positions up front needing filling this pre season..
I agree that well known names are not always the way to go, but getting decent and hungry players from non-league worked for us and we should keep useing our talent finding skills again this summer. That said, maybe one or two older heads with lots of league expiriance will also help the process.

Having listened to Matt’s interview he doesn’t anticipate too many playing squad changes and empathised the importance of things behind the scenes impacting on long term performance- hence getting a training base gym full time physio and someone to work alongside Dundo on the strengthening and conditioning.

Yes, pretty positive on the player front and most already seem committed contractually for the season ahead. All good stuff and sounds like staffing and training facilities being brought up to standard too.

I suppose the only unknown/variable is if a team higher up comes in for one of our players with an offer that cannot be refused and then presumbaly the management would then have to look at bringing a body or 2 in...

Over the years I’ve listened to many q&a’s with my first team, Huddersfield. To the players and management the standard of the training facilities and the level and quality of support they get are very, very important to them. After all, it’s their place of work. Improving the club infrastructure behind the scenes is an essential part of enabling the club to grow and attract, and keep, better players.

Having heard Matts interview with T D. It's good to hear that the majority of the squad are still on contract and that Matt can retain the others that are out of contract.yes we may need more players to come in so the squad is well covered in case there are more injuries like last season ( Having said that I hope there are not ) It's good to hear that the behind scenes are being looked into and the training facilities are being updated / upgraded. It looks like a full season of league and Cup games next season. Looking forward to it

It's very early days though. As mentioned above someone might come in with some unbelievable offers that the club or player concerned couldn't turn down so I presume there are a few fall back options that Matt has in mind.

Two good players released by Oldham. Piergiani and the top scorer, Keilor - Dunn. The first already signed with Stevenage.

I’d take Keillor-Dunn but there’s probably a queue of clubs after him like Rochdale, Stockport etc. He still managed to score 17 goals in a very poor Oldham side.
