Another couple of players who I felt could have been good additions to our squad got moves yesterday to League Two clubs. Lemonheigh-Evans joining Stockport from Torquay and Solomon Nwabuokei signing for Barrow from Woking an energetic midfielder. Ho hum the wait goes on. Let it go!!!!! Have we signed Ailsa?

Looking at the EFL published list of players under contract - we have 19 players listed BUT Dundo and Deano are NOT listed If you are talking about this list - www.efl.com/contentassets/bbc45f8b74f946c9a6d98bbf8ecf0207/efl-professional-retain-list---2021-22.pdf, the free transfer list contains Deano and Dundo, the 3 players we've released and Wyatt. That section also state that the list contains "Players in italics are over 24 years of age as at 30th June 2022 and are out of contract, but their club has made an offer of re-engagement" Bouzanis is one of those players, although Dundas and Wyatt don't seem to have that caveat. As the point of measurement for this was the latter part of May, it could be at that point both the latters were not offered new contracts by then doesn't mean any of those won't be playing for us next season. In addition to this, it does mean that the other players in the list are contracted for the upcoming season. Ajiboye Barden Beautyman Bennett Boldewijn Bugiel (o) Chalupniczak Eastmond Goodliffe (o) House John Kizzi Kouassi (o) Lovatt Milsom Randall-Hurren Rowe Smith Wilson Those with the (o) by their name means they are under 24 and therefore this applies: indicates players who are under the age of 24 years, whose current contracts expire on 30th June 2022 and to whom the club has made an offer of re-engagement This detail is correct as of 21 May 2022 so the current status of those not on this list and we've already not announced as released is unknown - they could have a contract offer, a signed contract, a delay in being offered a contract or not having a contract renewed.

Has anyone got any fresh rumours? What does everyone feel Matt is looking for in the window? I think a quick frontman would be a good addition, similar to Olaofe, in order to broaden the skill set across the attack. Maybe a loan…🟡🟤 Hello Willaw33 - hope all’s well. I spotted Neymar (quick frontman) in Holland & Barrett in Sutton high st this morning buying fish oil supplement….🎈👋⚽️ ================ I personally believe Matt is taking his time, keeping the players who served him very well last season is the first task and then maybe add a couple to strengthen the squad and the eleven. I’m sure I heard him say in his post season IV with Tony D that it’s always important to add in the summers as new faces bring a spark to any club and keeps everyone excited. BTW - Neymar is now in Worcester Park eating at a well known chicken shop⚽️

If I remember correctly, Deano was one of the last players to agree new terms last season. I get the impression that he very much likes it at Sutton - but I guess that like any professional, he might want to consider his options. Given that his other half (also Australian) plays for Arsenal Ladies, her future will be a consideration relevant to any decision that he makes. Who knows - he may even have an outside chance of making the Australia World Cup squad? If its taking Ben Wyatt some time to decide on his future, that is perhaps understandable given the relatively little game time he had last season as second-choice left back behind Rob Milsom. A young man of his age would probably want to be playing more regularly.

I'd say with Bouzanis it's probably more simple than that. Dean, being Australian-Greek, has more than likely gone off for a long holiday. Maybe were reading too much into it.

Indeed, with players away from home they will likely want to take their time before making more decisions and allow other options to surface. I imagine players from up North will also be keeping their eye out for any other offers. Not only about loving the club but arranging their lives. I imagine Deano has said he is all good but will give it a bit of time before making another commitment.

Looking at the retained list ( see earlier post) If Both Deano and Ben sign up with new contracts. We are still short of possible 3 or 4 players. No doubt Matt is looking out for other players. We will have to wait and see what happens.

Southwark News, a newspaper with very close links with Millwall, suggests that there are doubts about Tanto's future at Millwall, stating "question marks remain as to whether he will be able to make the jump up to Championship football, especially for a side with ambitions of making the playoffs". Millwall also have a very talented 16 year old striker called Zak Lovelace, who has already played for Millwall's first team when he was just 15, that they apparently want to send out on loan to a League 2 side for the season.

Well, I do not want to offend anyone and I noticed on this forum only positive thoughts are accepted… but there was a question at season end on league two’s twitter I think… besides player of the season and all that… and that was who was our flop of the season. And off course all nice Sutton fans answered nobody… but I really think there actually was one - and that was Isaac v.2022. And now bring on the insults, I’m ready.

I won’t insult you but I’d say you’re being very unfair. He spent significant parts of the season injured and working his way back to fitness - that doesn’t make him a flop. Good player and I think virtually every fan would have him back again if we could (which seems unlikely). Also young and learning, am sure he’ll have a football league career and I hope at a higher level than where we currently are. Think he probably scored more than our other forwards in less time on the pitch (as a comparison, no criticism of the other players as they all played a major part in our success).

As I have commented on another platform, I'd say that Tanto is good enough for the Championship, but there may be concerns at Millwall that he is too injury-prone. He missed two sizeable chunks of last season. I thought he came back well from last summer's injury and was excellent for us from October to January. But after his second spell out in February and March he didn't seem to recover his former sharpness, and it took him until the final day of the season to find the net again.
Of course he's still a young player, and he may just have been unlucky with fitness during the past twelve months. I'd be very happy to see him back at Sutton - but am not holding my breath.

As AA eluded to above, when a player misses the whole of pre season both playing and training he/she is playing catch up.
The hard yards training is done during pre season but as a group and while players tend to look after themselves more during downtime than they perhaps did in the past it can't be easy doing the hard stuff on your lonesome.
I don't think he was as sharp has he had been the previous season as a result. It certainly wasn't for a lack of effort though.
I think all at Sutton would have a fully firing Tanto back without pondering such a decision but I don't see that happening, sadly.

This is exactly what I meant by “flop” which might be a tough word, I admit. He scored 7 goals in 12 games in autumn/ winter, then came back I think at Vale and played nine scoring only one, and his goal instinct seemed to have a bit faded away (remeber he was scoring from half chances, like against Hartlepool in the promotion game or at Crawley or Notts). And also some of his ambition as I haven’t seen him even trying to make those interceptions such as at Tranmere or Orient.

Must agree with comments by AA,Gareth and Mark. TANTO was not a"flop". Yes he missed a large part of the season with injuries. And possibly he returned not as sharp as he was before injury. I think we would all like to see him back but unlikely to happen. But you never know what might happen?

Another question. Again looking at the squad as it stands what positions do you feel the club/ we have to add to?
