Prior to Doncaster’s two goals I actually thought Rose was having a pretty decent game, weak (ish) punch leading to their first goal as the danger was not cleared and then poor positioning for the second combined with Louis’ unfortunate slip but had Rose actually been in the goal that second goal doesn’t happen.

That's a fair assessment. It's going to take a bit of time for Rose to develop an understanding with his back four, just as Bouzanis had a hiccup or two in the early stages of last season.

OK, it wasn’t the best punch for the first goal, but where was the defending to close their winger down to stop the cross coming in. Oh and no marking for the forward who actually scored the goal. Rose is not entirely to blame here.
Second goal wasn’t the best from team as a whole.
On to MK tomorrow for the start of a decent cup run

I have been fascinated by goalkeepers: their habits, good and bad, and the anticipation some of them develop. That anticipation most useful when they know the attacker cannot hit one half of the goal, so they can shift from the centre to cover the half of the goal at risk. Some keepers never develop that skill. Dean Bouzanis was a much better keeper than the level Sutton were at when he joined. Dean was a key component of our progress. I would like to be proved wrong about Rose, but I have seen enough already to believe he could be part of a slide. We now have to score more goals than Rose lets in.

We now have to score more goals than Rose lets in. I don’t claim to be an expert in Football tactics however isn’t that the point of Football to score more goals than your goalkeeper lets in?

Basically we just did not see the game out which we should have. How many times are we down their attacking third giving a way corners and not work hard enough defending further up the field . The second goal summed it up with their goal coming from the kickoff and again not working hard enough to stop the ball, It’s just game management that they need too work on because if your going to score only one goal that is what you must do. I’m not criticising the team it’s just observation off the team. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

As was said in the match thread. We should have had the game done and dusted before halftime.

But you can approach the task in two ways. Trying to improve your attack, or trying to improve your goalkeeper. I commend you to the wisdom of Sir Alex who could claim to be an expert in football tactics. Asked what advice he would give a new manager with a finite budget he said "Buy the best goalkeeper you can afford."

I wasn't at the game so I'm only looking at the highlights here, and I think I must be watching different highlights from everyone else.
Seems like many here have decided we let in two goals at the end due to our keeper. From what I can see in the video, if I was Matt I'd be asking questions about what our defence was doing, or more to the point what they were not doing. Did we even have a right back for the last few minutes, because they obviously were not doing what they needed to, and the rest seemed to be confused.
We could have the best keeper in the world, but if the defence are faultering we're going to leave them exposed.
