Good performances from a number of Sutton players. Harry, as noted above. I think Coby is doing a good job of making Ben's absence less of a worry and Josh looks a real find. Not quite as fast as David but possibly more inventive and durable. Still, if we're to prosper this season we do need to be winning, at home, against the likes of Harogate. Some attacking quality from them but not too much else. My one concern was the sheer number of corners that we had while gaining so little profit from them. That got slightly unreal at one point. Agree the Ref. had a good one. I’m sure there must be some stats on the chance of scoring from a corner, I think you will find it is low.

Further to the point of corners. Why don't we put a player beyond the far post, for any over hit corner kicks or any possible headers. Also leave one player up field.

A study by Chris Anderson and David Sally at Soccer by the Numbers, showed that EPL teams converted corners between 0-7% during the 2010/11 season, with the average team converting corners into goals at 2.2%. At that rate, the average team would score by corner kick about every 10 games. After all a well organised defence is "set" and in position to repel the incoming ball. Seems to me that supporters always get (overly) excited when their team wins a corner - a far more profitable strategy is always going to be attacking down the flanks with pace whilst defenders are trying to get back to defend.

Interesting! But my point was (I should have been more precise) that we had entire sequences of corners which, I would think(?), should increase the chances of scoring. Or why is so much store set by the concept of continual pressure? In fact, if those stats are correct, why is so much store set by the importance of set-pieces at all? A goal doesn't have to result directly from first or second ball contact from the corner, but also from the general melee that occurs in and around the penalty area following the corner. Is that situation also covered in the stats? In short, I'm still saying we wasted a lot of corners.

…..and Josh looks a real find. Not quite as fast as David …... I was thinking that Josh was quite a bit quicker than David, and even maybe quicker than Isaac who I also though was as fast if not faster than David. Others around me commented on his speed too yesterday.

One thing is for sure, Josh was impressively fast yesterday!

Unfortunately too many of his runs ended with him on the floor☹️

What lovely goals he scored for us and when he went on his runs it got most of the crowd to their feet! Very exciting player to watch.

OK Mail haters. You're going to love their report of yesterday's game.
"Kylian Kouassi came off the bench to score Sutton's winner. Luke Armstrong also netted for the hosts, after Harry Beautyman scored for Harrogate."

Hope everyone’s well 🎈⚽️
Quick update on David Ajiboye.
I was working @portsmouth v Peterborough yesterday and I felt for David.
We are into the swing of the season and he did not even make the match day squad.
Ephron Mason Clark was on the bench and came on.
David had to endure those horrible shuttle runs post match when I look at footballers and think is this what you envisaged when you played at school at lunchtime and scored the winning goal just as the bell sounded for end of playtime.
I said hello to DA post shuttle runs and I hope he fights his way back into the match day squad.
He has a tough road ahead @peterborough.

Have to agree here, feel sorry for Ali who’s been limited to largely substitute appearances this season but Harry’s been excellent and I was delighted to see him grab a goal on Saturday. Coby I felt looked a little heavy when he came on against Newport on the opening day but he’s getting a run of games with us now and again was excellent against Harrogate! We’re in good shape!

One thing is for sure, Josh was impressively fast yesterday! I'm not sure about being quicker but I think his touch is a bit better and ball control, which makes his pace a bit more effective. Agiboye had blistering pace and that is what he relied on most, but not always with the best touch. So far I have to say Josh is certainly filling his shoes and making a pest of him self.

Yes, although Josh is playing (mainly) in David's old position on the right wing, he's clearly not a like-for-like replacement. One difference is that David was often reluctant to release the ball, using his pace and control to try to dribble past two or more opponents. Sometimes he did this successfully, then unleashing a shot or cross. But on many other occasions he lost possession. Josh, on the other hand, tends to release the ball, either passing to a nearby team-mate, getting in an early cross, or - occasionally - knocking the ball past an opponent and using his pace to to chase after it. Overall, Josh is probably the less predictable player.
