I can't help but think of the scene in PhoneShop where that song is played.
And Omar (that one not our one) has the paternal surname of Lye-Fook. Please feel free to insert your own punchline.

I love that song by Omar Sol. Can believe it’s over 30 years old…!!!! Hope you’re well SUFC1898 🎈 And still a classic today…..there’s nothing like this not even remotely like this….!! Football in LG2 - I think that song 🎶 was for the MIGHTY SU and our adventure in league football ⚽️. Enjoy tonight - it’s a beautiful trip.

Lot's to ponder after that. I can't make my mind up if Lewis Ward is unlucky or not. Kendall is a little lightweight up front. Enzio did nothing all game but Stevenage were a very well organised team and deserved their victory.
Let's hope that Jon's injury isn't as serious as it looked.

I was present at the match away at Stevenage tonight. The only 2 things I am taking away from the evening right now are the one minutes' silence in memory of all those poor people who did not get to go home after that football match stampede in Indonesia. And John Bardens' apparent very serious injury.

Totally agree with Fran1. Result, performance etc is irrelevant tonight. All the best Jon 👍

Early reports are it is an open leg fracture. Poor sod. Hopefully a very speedy and full recovery, but if that's the diagnosis, that's another out for the season.
The overall performance was better than Saturday. But we didn't have one shot on target. And we were totally ineffective on both wings. And our 4 first choice defenders looked at times like they've never played in the same team.
It's wholly unfair to suggest any one player is at fault for tonight. This is about collective responsibility.
Earlier in the on here I called every change correctly in the line up. At the start of match, I predicted every substitution, both who is coming off and on (apart from Lovatt of course).
The question I ask myself is that if I'm getting a 100% pass on that, then other footballing brains far superior to me (and there are plenty) must be working this out too. Is this our weakness at the moment?

Our season won’t be defined by Stevenage away that’s for sure. A very solid outfit, a better version of us really. Bigger, stronger and sharper. There was no real sign of us scoring a goal at all, nor any clue on how to create a chance. Beaten by a better team, no complaints. They’ll be up there this season. Totally different to Gillingham who were an awful side (and yes they’ll think the same about us). First half not much in it at all, 2nd they got the early goal and then were in full control. Pumping balls up a waste of time with their units across the back, doubt Omar won a header all day and he was just manhandled from the throw ins.
We need to hang onto the home form as away is looking very difficult at the moment. But at home we could have easily won all our games including the likes of Mansfield and Salford who are doing well.
This is probably how some thought it would be last season when we got promoted. Time to stick together and tough it out. Scrap for the points and get behind the team at home. Let’s roll the sleeves up and come out fighting on Saturday.
Of course best wishes to Jon, a real blow to lose him for the season and I hope he can make a recovery to play again at this level.

This time we didn't have to wait until after the 90th minute to witness defeat as we were well beaten within the ninety. In mitigation, we were missing seven players through injury or suspension. Then we saw Jon Barden depart on a stretcher with what reports suggest is a serious fracture. That cast a different sort of gloom over the evening.
What we've seen over the last three matches is the lack of strength in depth within the current squad. Matt is having to start games with players who last season would, at best, have got fifteen minutes at the end. He's having to bring players off the bench who haven't yet adjusted to this level of football.
That said, we were still in this match at half-time. We'd gone behind to a header from a free kick, but had had opportunities to score ourselves. Unfortunately our shooting was wayward. Stevenage then upped the tempo at the start of the second half and we didn't match them. Lewis Ward beat out a shot, there was nobody on hand to clear the ball, and Luke Norris slotted home. After that we had a really rocky spell before clawing our way back into the contest with a decent bit of possession in the Stevenage half - only to get caught on the counter, with Norris curling in his second and their third. Game over.
Next up we're home to Tranmere who've won their last three in the league. It doesn't get any easier.

So are you blaming Coby for Jon’s injury? I really hope not…

Such a shame for Jon who has been an integral part of squad in recent years. Best wishes for a full recovery. I guess we shall now recall Roman Charles - Cook from his loan spell. Now listening to Matt Gray's interview it sounds like Harry will have to have an op on his hernia. We suffered badly with injuries last season and this season has started no better.
