After letting the dust settle a little following Saturdays ever so disappointing exit in the Cup, it got me thinking have Sutton been the victim of a giant-killing or been the giant-killers most often?

Depends what you're looking for. FA Cup shocks include Yeading in 86/7. Sutton in GMVC and Yeading Spartan League, around 4 levels lower.
More recently, Alton of course and in 2014/15, Burgess Hill.
Grays Athletic in mid 80s too.
Back in the day, plenty of London Senior Cup upsets to lower based clubs.
In the Amateur Cup, Banstead Athletic in the 4th Qual early 50s. Prestwich Heys a week before Leeds match in January 1970.
More recently the SSC against Epsom & Ewell, Chipstead and Egham, the latter two being down to ten men.
You could add losing twice to Godalming in the SSC final in recent seasons too
That's off the top of my head.

In addition to that, the list of league teams we've beaten in the FA Cup goes as follows
87/88 (conf) Aldershot (+2) Peterborough (+1)
88/89 (conf) Coventry (+4)
93/4 (isth) Colchester (+2) Torquay (+2)
16/17 (conf) Cheltenham (+1) AFC Wimbledon (+2) Leeds (+3)
I think that's the lot.

Did we lose to Witney Town in 1971? Or was it Walton & Hersham? Or even both?

Witney. They was Hellenic League but did have semi professionals playing under a permit system. Another tie we just couldn't score in.

On the other side of the coin then, should we include the 9-3 win over Gillingham in the FA Cup ?

On the other side of the coin then, should we include the 9-3 win over Gillingham in the FA Cup ? They were a level above at the time, right? (We were Athenian and they were Southern League). So it would certainly count I'd say.

Prestwich Heys (in Greater Manchester) happens to be my home town club who I used to watch occasionally in my teens. They were a pretty decent amateur side at the time and I vaguely recall several Amateur Cup tussles, mainly against clubs in the North East which seemed to be something of an amateur football stronghold back then. Whether the match v Sutton was one of them I'm afraid my memory fails me!

They returned to the Southern League the following season. However, it was still a considerable achievement to beat them let alone by that score line.

In all honesty, I don't buy the programme, but when I did (and very occasionally do), it's your bit I actually go to first, and is my favourite bit!
