Neither the time nor place to debate who might have been the best of all time, just to say Rest In Peace to the great man who, for more than half a century, represented everything we all love about this game. Quite simply, Pele !

RIP Pele. I saw him play at Fulham in the early 70s (or was it late 60s?)

Pele scored from a penalty for Santos. The previous year I saw Fulham beat Benfica 3-2, who had the great Eusebio in their team. Ah, memories!

I was there too. A 93 from its termination point to Putney Bridge. A short and humble journey to see a king.

The biggest crowd of the season - 21,464 – turned out on 12th March 1973 to see Brazilian superstar Pelé and his Santos team play a friendly against Second Division Fulham at Craven Cottage.
It was the 31-year-old’s first game in the English capital, as he had spent all of Brazil’s matches at the 1966 World Cup at Everton’s Goodison Park, and the likes of Carlos Alberto and Edú were alongside him for Santos’ ‘world tour’.

I don't think Edu played at Craven Cottage though.
