Salford Match Thread

Thought that I'd create the match thread as it's now Friday afternoon. Another tough game anticipated - but we go into it in decent form and Matt seemingly having more options than he has had for a while. I would be surprised if, fitness issues aside, the starting Xi differs much from last week. Hope that all fans travelling to the game have an enjoyable matchday experience. How many are we going to win by Sol?

I hope it’s not called off - I had my work match called off last Saturday (F Green v Birmingham - waterlogged!) and when I arrived @the new lawn around 10am the sun was shining and there was a lovely breeze.

Health and safety gone a little bonkers.

Salford start the game five places and two points ahead of us (with two games in hand). They've been finding the net lately, with eight goals in their last three league games (two wins, one defeat), Matt Smith and Conor McAleny accounting for six of those goals. But their home form hasn't been great; last Saturday's 2-1 win over Northampton was their first home victory in the league since August.

They did of course win 2-1 at GGL in September, scoring twice late on after we lost Donovan Wilson to a red card.

The Salford pitch was reportedly not in great shape last weekend; with heavy rain forecast for tonight, we should be prepared for a pitch inspection tomorrow morning.

I watched the Salford game on Sky last weekend as you do. Pitch wasn't very conducive to decent football and i fear there may be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning.(sorry Sol).

Neither Salford or Northampton were particularly inspiring in the match and we could well come away with something positive.

They did have plans to move to the rugby stadium in Salford but plans have been shelved.

I realise that money isn't too much of a problem for them but they spent a bucket load getting the stadium up to its existing level.

Just read its all fallen through as the Council are buying the stadium they hoped to move to and they are not included.

Latest news via Twitter is that the game is on (subject to the weather not unexpectedly deteriorating).

Just up the road in Rochdale there's a noon pitch inspection. Colchester fans will be travelling in hope.

At the moment, only 1 postponed game in our league, Crawley v Doncaster.

Sun is trying hard to break through here at Salford.

Rose is out injured so Ward starts and the recalled House is back on the bench.

2 down at ht. Decent first. Second right on half time, could have been a foul on Ward but think he should have been a bit more positive. We’ve played pretty well at times. Work to do. With wind 2nd half.

Kept battling away as you’d expect. Concede the 2nd we did and miss a pen you usually get nothing. Ajiboye looked great when he came on. A class above. Unreal that Salford have doubled us on the balance of the 2 games. 5 mins added on when they took 5 mins over every throw and goal kick a joke (not that it mattered). Time for Salford to spend some of their millions on the pitch.

Memo to G Neville , Pitch very poor toilets disgraceful, ballboys useless . Facilities at Salford suggest tickets at £5 are overpriced
