I understand why the game was rather dull for some spectators, but for many home fans the result illustrated the progress this Sutton side has made since the autumn. This was the first time this season we've kept clean sheets in consecutive league matches. And, in preventing Stevenage from scoring, we achieved what neither Aston Villa nor Stoke could in the Cup last month. 🙂
Small steps...

It felt to me that Stevenage were (are) a very capable, very accomplished and very resilient team. They are second in the league and that is due in large part to the way they control games, permit the opposition very little space and generally stifle opposing teams attacking intent. It feels like since December we have made enormous strides in also becoming a "tough nut to crack". Our play off push I believe will depend on whether the likes of Angol, Dennis and Kasimu (along with Donovan and Omar) can start to fire at the other end of the pitch!

The fact that SU goal difference is minus 7 despite now being on the fringes of the playoffs encapsulates the problem this team has, that of scoring goals. Despite all of Donovan Wilson’s hard work and ability to create chances and even goals for his teammates, it isn’t good enough any longer to have a non-scoring “striker”. You’d think Angol and/or Dennis will have to be given starts sooner rather than later.
Sorry to others that might think this as picking on DW, I’m not.

I fault we did ok and looked a lot better than we have earlier this season. Defensively we look much better and a lot more tempo to the play. Just ten points now needed to the magical fifty points. So the future looks bright, so now let’s keep the faith. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

An excellent point against the best side I’ve seen on L2 this season. However I’m getting very frustrated with the instructions the refs have been getting this season. It’s more like watching WWE. These days. Yesterday was ridiculous with blatant fouls not given. Someone on here said the ref had good hearing well he didn’t hear the blatant foul on Donovan in the second half that should have been a pen. You could hear the thud of boot on boot on the terraces. It led to Enzio getting booked for dissent. Piergianni was outstanding for them but at least he didn’t score. I thought Ben, Enzio and Joe were immense.
Will didn’t have his greatest game with the oppo seemingly knowing his every move and his touch being off. He’ll bounce back next week no doubt.

Whilst the game was low on clear cut chances for both sides, to me it showed two teams well matched. We just stood toe to toe with the best team in the league.
We've got nothing to fear.

Our back 4 were outstanding but so was their 3. I was equally relieved Piergianni didn't get his customary goal against us. Stevenage are one of those teams nobody will enjoy playing against. Will got the sort of close attention which for me shows that, despite him clearly being our best player so far this season, he's playing at the right level. I think L1 defences would cancel him out in the same way. I know Ajiboye is not yet sharp and the end product isnt always there, but some of his touches were magical, premier league quality. He has that little something which defenders dont expect, and you can't teach that.

I thought Will picked up a lot of loose balls during the match and yes he lost possession a couple of times but i thought his contribution was immense.

"....... but some of his touches were magical,"
Highlight of the day for me was when David took down Jack's long kick near the touchline, facing his own goal and with the outside of his right foot he killed the ball and dragged it past the defender in one move and was gone.

Evans is reported as saying that the referee was a comedian. For booking him?
