Sutton United's colours are chocolate & amber. I am not au fait with current regulations regarding these matters but why should any team have to change kit except in the case of a colour clash? In Sutton's case this would mean changing kit for a handful of away games,as was the case for decades.Other teams that fall in to this category are Norwich and Wolves, who (i think) could wear their traditional kit for every game in the league this season. How many different kits have Sutton worn in the last couple of years? It's getting silly. Sutton United's colours are still chocolate and amber. This was the case before Saturday and the case after Saturday. As for kit regluations, Rule 39: Clubs are required to notify the Football Services Department of their chosen colours for all new ‘home’, ‘away’ and ‘third’ sets of kit at the planning stage then the League can provide approval. When registering kits, Clubs must ensure that the colour of the shirt, shorts and socks for each kit is different to and would sufficiently contrast against the other kits registered by the Club. Specifically 39.3 - In circumstances where an ‘away’ Club cannot wear any of its kits (or combination of its kits) without causing a potential kit clash, the Home Club shall be able to wear any combination of its registered kit in order to avoid the potential kit clash (including but not limited to wearing an ‘away’ or ’third’ shirt for a Home Match) The League shall inform all other Clubs, Referees and Assistant Referees of such details And even more specifically Each Club is authorised on one occasion per Season to play a Home Match in an alternative kit (in addition to any changes permitted in accordance with Regulation 39 3) The League reserves the right to relax this restriction in respect of play-off matches after consultation with Clubs So aside from that the club have followed the letter of the law completely (as if that was ever in question by anyone), we're also not in 1964 anymore, and a 3rd kit is needed. And every EFL league club has one. And we've pretty much changed our home kit every 2 years since the late 70s. And even before that such as the 1950s, we changed our kit at least 4 times in that decade. So tell us how Billy that it's only now it's getting silly?

Clubs are also required, as practical, to consider colour clashes from the point of view colour blindness

The red was the 4th - as explained above clubs can have special dispensation for a specific reason such as we had at the weekend.

Said already it threw me. I am willing to give it a chance, however considering the colour blindness issue (and how many others wear red) I'm not sure how often we will see it.
I am really impressed with the details and little touches. Plus well done on the research into the colour AND so many players!
Can't help the feeling of being a rivals colour (yes I have taken on board they are way below us).
My final point is it is just so common! The Jade and even Black aren't used that often and only a few times worldwide use 'our' colours!

All that I had a record of. What's his name please? Thanks Mark, Rob Weller, reserve goalkeeper in late 70’s. Stood in for Dave Collyer at least once (in an FA Cup tie).

Blimey, Rob. He was going out with my cousin Sandra at the time.
Was Sutton's reserve keeper when we won the Anglo Italian in 1979 but as Dave said, just the one appearance.
Sutton had a mini goalkeeper crisis as Rick Collier had been injured, Bob Proctor let in six at home to Enfield and Dave Smith was with the army. It was the FA Trophy at Dover and I actually missed that match. U's swapped Collier for Collyer with Staines for the next match.

He may’ve only played once but was very proud of his clean sheet (and still is!) He played well I gather and carried around a paper clipping report of the match headlined something like “Weller saves the day” I wasn’t watching United in those days but saw him later play for Corinthian Casuals when they were ground sharing at Sandy Lane.
