So taking into account the great thought and history that went into it.
With the red of Sutton Guild Rovers, the embedded image of Sutton Association inside and the 2,000+ players names on the back. Our first post war badge from 1947.
What were peoples thoughts on the commemorative red kit?
Really interested to know what everyone thought.

I like the idea of the badges and, especially, all the players' names but I don't like the colour. So, I'm abstaining.

Honestly i thought it was dreadful but i can fully understand the thought process that went into playing in it on our anniversary.
I was hoping for Chocolate & Amber quarters as per our 100 year season.

The red kit is disappointing. If i was there i'd have walked out before the kick off.
Edited with apologies for my original rant which was out of order.I saw red!

I can see the thought process and not just billy saw Red. I would have preferred all red with the flashes similar to the kits we already have.

It reminded me of a 1930’s type kit and I immediately thought of Charlton Athletic.

Nice idea going back to this kit and using the original badge All the names in it was a lovely touch and so Sutton
Amber and Chocolate is such a USP though and wouldn't buy anything SUFC, generally, that wasn't these colours. A preference thing rather than some kind of big stand!
More widely, I do tend to love stuff that plays on heritage and wish we would utilise the chocolate a bit more but I guess the marketeers will tell us black and blue sell better

Whilst I totally get the logic behind the kit, how people don't like the colour and how people were expecting a different design (including me).
But seriously, this was a one off kit, which could become our 3rd kit next season, which with the prevalence of teams already playing in red, we probably won't see that often.
For those who thought it reminded of "our rivals" such as Kingstonian or Carshalton, then its probably time to realise they're not rivals. A rival is something measurable and going for the same prize. Its been many years since that happened.
This isn't a wholesale identity change for the club, as happened with Carshalton on a small scale, or Cardiff on a bigger scale. This is just a kit. It's not insulting or disrespectful in any shape or form. But of course people are welcome to like or dislike it. If people are so upset about it that "they would have walked out if they were there", then the problem lies with the individual, not the kit. Being that offended by a one off kit, to me, just defies any logic, and in reality you're offended at those who made those decisions. Feel free to tell them that, and tell them about the offence you feel about the 2000+ names on the shirt, or how you think Sutton Guild Rovers are scum.

I don't have particularly strong views on what is likely to be a third choice kit next season. Not particularly fond of it - but understand why the club introduced it. Wouldn't disagree with Andy's definition of what constitutes 'a rival' either. But sometimes when a club has been a rival in the past, something of that feeling of rivalry tends to stay with you even when you are no longer in direct competition. When I first started watching Sutton many many years ago, I regarded Leatherhead and Wycombe as our big rivals - and although we haven't played either for many years (except for an FA Cup tie against Leatherhead that we won after a replay), I still look out for their results. When Sutton beat Leeds 1-0 in the FA Cup, I think that it probably meant that bit more to those of us who saw us lose 6-0 to Leeds in 1970. With one eye on the play offs, I'm looking forward to a potential opportunity for renewing old rivalries with Wycombe.

I personally wasn't sold on the day (and initially thought that we were playing in the blue and Crewe were in their usual red!) but then again i had no idea about the connection to SGR or the names on the back. After 48hrs i think I have come around to the idea somewhat but if we are to have a red kit in future, could we not have some amber trim somewhere? (SUFC meets Melchester Rovers anyone?)

Sutton United's colours are chocolate & amber.
I am not au fait with current regulations regarding these matters but why should any team have to change kit except in the case of a colour clash?
In Sutton's case this would mean changing kit for a handful of away games,as was the case for decades.Other teams that fall in to this category are Norwich and Wolves, who (i think) could wear their traditional kit for every game in the league this season.
How many different kits have Sutton worn in the last couple of years? It's getting silly.
