Pre match interviews are about 10 mins and post match about 5 mins. All answers given if you can spare an extra 15 min per game.

And right on queue Matt gives a comprehensive run down on all the squad injuries - with Rowe and Neufville back in the squad and Dennis likely available Monday - good news all round.
Generally I think Matt gives away as much if not more than most and isn't especially one for mind games.

I do get this "wanting to know". I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't read everything and watch all of the interviews. Not to be picky but if you don't want to read/watch what communication comes out I'm not sure you can really say you want to know..... Anyway. I am going to explain this really badly but here is my understanding. I know Matt & team do a lot of work on opponents set up and any bit of info can be useful. If we are facing a side with 5 strikers that is a possible 10 pairings (assuming the use two up front). We would brief the defence on what they like to do - come deep, run the channels & much more detailed stuff I would never understand. If we KNOW two of those players are not going to play it drops the possible pairings to just 3. With a finite amount of time, you can see that preparing for three possibility's would be more detailed than trying to prepare for ten. So I understand why we want to keep things close to our chest. However I actually think people want to know because we are a club that know our players as people not just 'tools' and are interested in their welfare. Or maybe we just want an 11/11 on FanHub.......

There have been a couple of times this season where we've been a bit stretched with players out injured. Does that mean we need a bigger squad? How does our budget stand for that kind of thing? We obviously need to recruit the right kind of player but on our budget where from?

We obviously need to recruit the right kind of player but on our budget where from? I think you've answered your own question. I don't think you can reconcile our small budget with a big squad of the right kind of player. We could have a small squad with the right kind of player, or we could have a big squad with a lot of youngster probably not ready for EFL L2 football. Which is what Matt did in the summer with the majority of his signings. As the playing budget is capped at 100% of turnover, we can only cut our cloth with what we've got. Which makes a top half finish for the 2nd season running (which is likely) a huge achievement.

We obviously need to recruit the right kind of player but on our budget where from? Some good questions - we had similar problems with injuries at times last season too. I thought the squad was bigger this season but several players out on loan. Feel this summer the recruitment is critical - a little hit and miss last summer - as a club we definitely rely on finding the hidden gems from clubs lower down in the pyramid - we haven’t seen anything of Kasimu (in a U’s shirt anyway) yet.

There is a limit on squad size (22 I think, excluding keepers), applies equally to all clubs. The only way you can have a bigger squad is by adding players who are aged under 21.
