Rowe, Randall and Omar… didn’t see that happening. Suggests to me the wishes of the players and not the manager. The rest (Lovett aside) no real surprises. This forces Matt into a big summer rethink. Or does it? He could recruit like-for-like to fit into his tactical template, in which case he will, no doubt, already a have a list of players that he will try to recruit. My hope is for a quicker, more creative and dynamic approach, but to make this work in L2 will cost, unless some top drawer lower league scouting pays off.
Anyhow, my thanks to all those who are leaving. Good luck wherever they go.

We know that Matt likes a 4-4-2 formation, but, with the defensive players set to stay on for next season, 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2) is an option: a back line of John, Goodliffe and Kizzi, with Hart or Milsom at left wing-back, Boldewijn at right wing-back, and Eastmond at the base of a central midfield trio. That formation might suit these players better.

Not sure about Joe being one of 3 centre backs. Good that he's versatile. And it looks hopefully like Jon Barden will be back soon. He too was used in a couple of roles.

Have spoken to Jon a couple of times over the past weeks. His rehabilitation is going well and back in training and hopes to be back as and when.

A bit of a bugger trying to get a team up on FIFA 23 tonight had to play Sam Hart on the left wing. Most disappointed to see Will and Coby go. As you've consistently (to your credit) been a proponent of a big front line change, due to lack of goal scoring, I'm a little surprised that you're disappointed to see Will depart. As far as I can see from the season's stats he's contributed 6 goals and 2 assists. Although I admit I was expecting it, from 'memory', to have been more. But that's not a great return from the player who was, arguably, our principle attacking midfielder. Surely he falls under the same critique as Donny and Omar would? As you say no secret about my thoughts on our front line, but the reason I am disappointed to see Will go is that he hasn't really looked fully fit or back to his best since his mid season injury. Prior to that I thought Will one of the first names on the teamsheet on merit. I would like to have seen him have another pre-season with us because I think he may well get back to that form, and someone out their is going to pick up a great player.

Just about digested the big squad update from Wednesday, some great servants to Sutton United there. I look forward to hearing from Matt in due course.
Some players who caught my eye/think would be a good fit for us next season include: - Dan Aygei (lad from Crewe who scored down here) - James McShane (Dorking) - Matt Robinson (midfielder just released at Dagenham) - Max Biamou (was training with us last season I believe - we need strikers!!) - Rohan Ince (been getting rave reviews in Woking's midfield this season)

Aaron Jarvis was scoring goals for a struggling Torquay.

Peterborough have obviously done well without David.

When someone has an opportunity, the first team squad players section of the website is in need of substantial change.
Looking at the players released by other EFL2 clubs so far, I see Freddie Sears has been released by Colchester. I know that he is 33 now, but I'm pretty sure that he will still score goals for someone at our level next season - if given the opportunity. .

For what it's worth, Orient have released Harry Smith, their tall striker who scored twice against us in the 4-1 defeat at Brisbane Road last season. Gab Sutton is recommending him to us (presumably as a replacement for Omar).
He's most recently been on loan at Barnet (7 goals in 11 appearances).

Quality player. I gather he's had some personal problems over the past season but I'd be very excited to see him join sutton.

I'm surprised and sorry that Omar has been let go, he's been a great servant to the club, who ever he goes to will have a player that gives nothing but 100% every game. Also even more surprised that Coby Rowe has been released, I think he has been fantastic in every game he's played in covering for Louis John. Also sorry to see Will Randall and Donovan Wilson go. Good luck to all of these players, were ever you end up.

Just a reminder that because players are on the released list, it doesn't mean they have been "let go" by the club in the sense as the club saw them as no longer being needed. The decision could be the players rather than the club so it could well be more a case of the Club has been let go (as is what I hear was the case with Omar in particular).
