What ever happens to Omar can I say thanks for all you have done for this great club. Showed commitment in every match he played, so good luck for the future. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Of course, another possibilty regarding Donny and Omar is that Matt looked at our lack of goals during the course of the season and simply decided (as I assume they took up a resonable chunk of our wage budget) to ring in the changes. Might include Will in that train of logic, too.
Less likely that other scenarios but not impossible.

I’m assuming Bugiel and Randall have got deals lined up and made it known that they wanted to leave. My suspicion is that OB will go to someone like Gillingham. Shame, as I like OB and he’ll be missed. Randall is an odd one for me. On his day he can be very good, capable of scoring good goals, but he’s so right-footed and predictable in most that he does. If he had a left foot he’d be playing at a higher level; that said, I suspect he might get the chance at a L1 club. Whether or not he can succeed at that level remains to be seen. I’m genuinely surprised about Rowe and Lovatt. Maybe Rowe has a better offer as well, otherwise I’d have thought the club would have wanted him to stay. Lovatt is still young and had done OK earlier in the season. I’d have thought management would have wanted to bring down the average age of the squad too. Wilson - a shame, but you can’t have a non-scoring (almost) “striker”. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get another chance at L2 level. Thomas and Gambin were always going to go. Contributed basically nothing. Obviously we have not yet seen anything of Kasimu, but clearly there will have to be plenty of incomings. Extremely unlikely to go to Gillingham. He’ll be in L1 next season at either Oxford, Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers or Exeter. A number of L1 clubs are after him. I suspect it may be Oxford if they want him (and Omar did mention them to me on Saturday when I thanked him for all his efforts)

A bit of a bugger trying to get a team up on FIFA 23 tonight had to play Sam Hart on the left wing.
Most disappointed to see Will and Coby go.

I've seen a story that Omar is joining Cheltenham. I wouldn't be surprised to see Will and Coby sign for other EFL clubs. I think Donovan is more likely to drop back into the National League (where he was an effective striker).
I'm confident that Matt will have already identified replacement players. I'd expect announcements pretty soon.

We could of course sign players without clubs before then. Presume that Matt is going to take a holiday soon as well.

Might include Will in that train of logic, too. Less likely that other scenarios but not impossible. My take FWIW is similar to that. Donovan and Omar, our main strikers, scored just 10 league goals between them in the season just ended and, even fewer, ie 8 in the season before. Matt, remember, repeatedly spoke, in post-match interviews, about "lacking that bit of quality" in turning pressure into goals. He might feel he had a surfeit of strikers and neither Kasimu nor Angol were likely to be the ones to go having signed them only four months ago. Koukakkis, he seems to rate, and Tope as perhaps one for the future. We might see one, but perhaps not two, of the departees replaced. One area the manager might be looking to strengthen, with funds being released, not necessarily in the starting XI but as squad players, is CM, especially given ageing legs: Easty will be 33 next season and Harry 32. For many matches there's been a reliance on Dundo, but much as we love him, he'll be 43. To that extent, I'm a little surprised Lovatt has been released because I thought he slotted in pretty well when called upon. Maybe we'll find out the reason for that in the not-too-distant future. I'm rather disappointed to see Will leave because I felt he was often our most creative player but he does seem to be injury-prone.

One thing I said before, and there's no harm in repeating it, is that one mustn't make the assumption that all the released players were Matt's decision to release. Whilst we won't know, but from the small bits of information we have we can speculate. Luke Gambin and Kwame Thomas, for example, going on what Matt had said previously and by the actions since, were released by the club. Omar (and by association Will) were probably the polar opposite than that. Someone like Lovatt falls right in the middle - someone who could do a job here, but will only get the chance with injuries to Eastmond, Smith and Beautyman. Perhaps he made it known that he wanted regular football, which we were not able to promise for next season.
For what it's worth out of those who have been released, I can't see any more than 4 of them playing league football next season.

As you've consistently (to your credit) been a proponent of a big front line change, due to lack of goal scoring, I'm a little surprised that you're disappointed to see Will depart. As far as I can see from the season's stats he's contributed 6 goals and 2 assists. Although I admit I was expecting it, from 'memory', to have been more. But that's not a great return from the player who was, arguably, our principle attacking midfielder. Surely he falls under the same critique as Donny and Omar would?

Just for the sake of balance, I do recall season long criticism of Omar that he had too poor a disciplinary record and, as a target man, would frequently either not get on the end of the ball pumped up to him by Rose or consistently knock it into either the wrong space or to an oppo player.
Not saying if the latter part was justified, but it did keep coming up.

It seems that reading previous posts on this and other threads that quite a few agree that the playing of Omar and Donovan as target men didn't work. Again, as been said, will Matt change the format of play. Of course, all will be known in the future.
Enjoy the summer break and look forward to a new season with the club and team.

Hopefully Matt will do an interview on SUFCTV before he has a well deserved break.
