Hi,
I'm from the Netherlands, and I will be in London on the first weekend of August and will be attending the game between Sutton and Notts County. Can anyone advice me which pub(s) to visit before the game? And maybe I can join someone for a beer before the match?

Can anyone advice me which pub(s) to visit before the game? And maybe I can join someone for a beer before the match? Welcome, Frank! The immediate locality does not have any decent pubs but there is a fanzone in the ground with some local craft beer and the club bar does a banging pint of tribute (traditional cask beer) at a very reasonable price. The only decent pub in Sutton is shinner and sudtone which is close the main sutton train station and a 15 min walk. If you're into craft beer, there is a fantastic pub called the hope in Carshalton which is the next stop up from sutton. If you're coming in early or have time to kill, it's well worth the detour and only 3 mins from the station. If you're coming in on the thameslink to West sutton your only option is to drink at the ground or get off somewhere en route. Loughborough junction has a good craft beer place nearby and elephant and castle also has some options. If you're hanging about after the game myself and some.friends will be going for a pint at one of the aforementioned locations and you'd be welcome to join!

There are plenty pubs around and a fair few on the high street on the way to the ground. But there are no real designated pubs that the fans all go really. There is "The Gander" at the end of Gander Green lane which is quite close and the Robin Hood Arms off of Robin Hood lane (which is the pub used when Sutton United was founded) other than that it's a bit of a pick em, As noted above, There is a bar in the ground including an outside area which does the job for most.

I would not recommend the Gander to a Kingstonian fan, let alone a neutral fan coming for his first experience of Sutton! Let's not put him off for life Robin Hood Arms is passable but again, certainly not recommended. Nothing decent on tap and not much atmosphere. I'd rather go to the club bar anyday than either of those.

I went there close of last season and I think its a decent enough pub. Had Neck Oil IPA on tap so cant be that bad I am surprised its not more popular with its historical links to the club. Perhaps it is just tucked away a bit..

It's also more expensive than other pubs in town.
I don't disagree with baboonfish's recommendations but bearing in mind Frank is from the Netherlands his idea of a good pub might not have "good real ale" at the top of the list. Those are still good pubs though regardless of what you drink.

I'd much more recommend The Moon on The Hill at the top of Sutton, better pub and cheaper prices

Respectfully disagree with that. Better pub, really??!!
I suppose we'll all have different ideas of what makes a good pub. You're right though it's dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Thank you, everyone. I had a wonderful day last Saturday. I started by having a pint at the Gander Inn pub, which happened to be the first pub I spotted after getting off the bus. Before and after the game, I enjoyed some beers with Baboonfish and his mates. The stadium had plenty of standing terraces and was quite nice. The game played by Sutton was excellent. Maybe I will visit an awaymatch in the future. Wishing you all the best of luck this season.
