I think he warranted his own thread.
So he has finally joined Blackpool.
I always thought he had great potential but I think this is too soon. However I wish him the best of luck.

He certainly did not stand out from the others but obviously being very young has good potential. At the end of the day good luck to him and we can all make mistakes when young. I think it's a silly move for him. That said, if you look at how many forwards Matt has brought in, perhaps he felt even here his chances of being a regular were not cast in stone. Blackpool probably want to drag on negotiating as they will get more time to assess. Good on Matt for digging his heels in. We should be compensated for people nabbing our academy products before we have developed and benefited more off of them...

Well, don't forget Kylian isn't just a "product." He's a person, and this is clearly what he wanted. Not just up to the clubs to decide a person's career and future. But yes it is a shame to see him go after we've invested a lot in him. That's football I suppose.

In his case he lives his dream and earns a decent wedge being one, while others are prepared to give anything to Be in his position, so I think he is far from a victim of any kind. Ultimately, we have had nothing back from our investment in this bit of business (Yet). It would appear the issue is, his contract was up so was free to move, but he was still under contract when moving there on trial, making him not available to us. They bassicly used the remaining days of our contract to trial him to decide if they want to sign him. If that's the case, talk about taking the p**s.

I imagine that his contract expired in June. If that's correct, he was free to go on trial with other clubs during July.
As has already been pointed out, because of his young age, Sutton Utd are entitled to compensation. If the two clubs can't agree on a figure then the matter will go to a tribunal. The sum actually paid won't necessarily be disclosed.
I can't see a great deal of point in continuing this thread. The player's gone. Let's move on.

Matt had the final word on this in his post match interview. "not a lot, he's not our player so let's crack on"

Why would we be entitled to compensation because he is young? Surely its based on what the contracts states and when it runs out? Also, Matt stated during his trial that he is still a Sutton player. This would not be the case if he was out of contract and trialling at another club, unless I am missing something.

You are. If a young player who is out if contract is offered a new contract but turns it down and exercises his right to sign for a different club, then his original club is entitled to compensation. It won’t be as big as a transfer fee but can be substantial. (Young = under 24).

Ali was 24 in May, before his contract expired.

Doesn’t really matter now, does it. To repeat Matt said and what Andy K echoed..
“not a lot, he's not our player so let's crack on"
Totally agree

I think compensation is based on age, the number of first team appearances and the number of years they were with you. Finally the level with LG2 worth a lot lot less than a player in a Premier League Academy.
