Tomorrow night sees a break from league matters (maybe a good thing?!) and a first ever League Cup 2nd round tie. We head up to Buckinghamshire to face Wycombe - now unbeaten in their last 3 in League One - they beat fellow League Two side MK Dons in the previous round. Sutton of course have previous with Wanderers with a couple of epic games 30 years ago, winning 3-2 at Adams Park (our last visit there) - I won’t mention the home leg 😞.
Our squad will be lifted by the return of Harry Smith (feels like he’s been out for an age) but I’m guessing Easty will be absent again just like he was on Saturday.
Hopefully a good Sutton turnout tomorrow.

if we play like we did against Cambridge and cut out the silly mistakes we made in that game there is every reason to be optimistic that we can get through. Looking forward to revisiting Adams Park.

Looks pretty empty in the ground. Can someone post the crowd number and how many Sutton are there?

I wonder whether, in all history, Wycombe have met Sutton more often than any other current League club. And vice versa ?

Excellent! Great and much needed result. Now the boys can steady the ship in the League.

Our first League Cup giant-killing. Does it count when it's against a club we have played and beaten (and lost to) so many times before ? That was not an easy watch 2nd half but I thought we were excellent first half, good football and worth more than one goal.
Well done to Matt and all the players.

Strangely, they’ve had bigger gates against us in the Isthmian League !

Wycombe have caused me some heartache over the years - going back to 1971. This win means a lot.

we should be playing in League 1 as we seem to have more luck playing their teams 🤔. In 2 games we would have doubled our points and that’s after playing 5 League 2 games.

Our performance tonight especially at the back was completely unrecognizable from our last 2 league matches.
Excellent performance, should have been 2 up at the break..

That was an immense performance tonight from everybody from one through to twelve (and before any pedantic posters start to point out that there is only eleven on the field - I'm referring to our support tonight as the 12th man!)
I'm sure that the players appreciated each and every supporter that turned up at Adams Park either on the supporters coach or travelling independently and the various diversionary routes that people took to get there due to the lorry fire on the M25 (I'm aware of Kew Bridge & Brentford, Datchet, Ascot & Bracknell, Windsor, etc as some of the various routes). From minute one until our players left the field post-match our support sang loud and proud and your support did not go un-noticed. Please can we try to generate somewhere near the same vocal support at home starting on Saturday against Forest Green as the vocal support tonight was unreal!
