There is no doubt we have greater strength in depth than we have had previously, but equally we don't have any really stand out players. Rather than rely on individuals to do something special like we have previously, Matt is searching for a blend to make an all round team.
This is absolutely Matt's job to do, he has the responsibility to find the right combinations and change systems at the right times to get results.
To me talk of Matt's position at this stage is akin to sacking the guy respaying your car after he had just rubbed it down, because the bodywork looks crap.

One point worth making. Last season we had a habit of leaking goals in injury time.
This season we've expanded on that. Not only have 10 of the 11 goals we've conceded in the league happened in the 2nd half, all of those happened in the last half hour (69min v Notts, 79 & 82 v Barrow, 64, 80 and 86 v AFC, 70,77 and 87 Newport and 63 v FGR). The only exception to this was the Gillingham goal.
If there is a pattern to look at that needs addressing, it's that.

Gillingham's and FGR's goals were the only league goals Sutton conceded with their starting 11 on the pitch. All the other league goals conceded were scored after at least one sub had been made. Clay twice, Fadahunsi twice and O'Brien twice, John once came on before Sutton conceded, and none of them scored. One can't read too much into just 6 matches though it is something to keep an eye on.

I was one who was really talking about getting rid of Matt at the start of his career here but I don't think that's the answer now.
We lost half of last seasons team for one reason or another. Apart from FGR all the other teams we've played are around the top of the league and we've had several injuries.
I don't know what the answer is as I haven't been to an away game for a long time but I know our away support seems to be more encouraging.
