Another ground for me to mark off my list and one i never expected to visit. Was it 1964 when they resigned from the league and a few hours later rescinded the resignation only for the Football league to say too late!
Anyway looking forward to a long weekend trip and hoping that we can come away with 3 points which are badly needed at present. Also hope that Craig Eastmond is fit enough to lead out the side and that the forecast rain stays away!

The BBC has light rain and drizzle forcast for most of the afternoon www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2657770Technically the Accrington Stanley are not the same club that left league football in 1962 (they resigned from the league and their results expunged and were replaced by Oxford United for the 62/63 season), as that club folded in 1966 and were reformed in 1968, who played in a new ground (Crown Ground) rather than the home of the previous incarnation, Peel Park which is now, oddly enough, a park! Anyone who heard Matt's interview for Radio London on Monday should expect no major changes in formation. Matt made it pretty clear he's not switching to 3 at the back, and is sticking to his preferred formation i.e. the one he's used for the last 5 years. I'm hoping for a point at the very least, and hopefully a first league clean sheet of the season. Something where my expectations will be raised if I see a team sheet that has some fresh legs on it, especially in defence.

I’m up here already, albeit on the right side of the Pennines and the weather is perfect right now, admittedly 48 hours before the game!
I won’t be at the Sutton game on Saturday as I’ll be at Town v Rotherham but I’d have liked to have got to Stanley again. I’ve got a lot of time for them, only been there once, but you could tell what a friendly and welcoming club it is.

Peel Park is now a school playing field. There have been 3 Football clubs in Accrington.
Accrington FC - founder members of the football league in 1888. Accrington Stanley (1921) - founder members of Third Division North. Accrington Stanley (1968) - the present club that gained promotion to the football league in 2006.
Why's everyone worried about the weather?. You're all sat undercover in the Studio.co.uk stand.

There's a good chance that Craig Eastmond will be back for this one.
The date of the match (16 September) happens to be the birthday of both our manager and Chairman. Let's hope the players can provide a present of three points. 🎂🎂⚪️🟡⚪️

All down to how we defend, which has been the main issue.
If we can keep it tight at the back then a draw is obviously always there to take, and we do have the players that can always nick a win.
We need some clean sheets!

Re: change in formation, I can't help but be reminded of this wonderful scene from Blackadder every time Matt lines up with the same 4-4-2 which has proved totally ineffective for well over one third of a season. Hopefully our luck will change, but while we keep doing the same thing it is more hope than expectation. Good luck and Godspeed to those travelling today. Was super excited to visit Accers but sadly the greed and ineptitude of Avanti quickly dispelled any such excitement. £111 return and 4 hours each way, you are having a laugh. Yet somehow GNER can get you to York in comfort in around two hours. Melchett: Field Marshal Haig has formulated a brilliant new tactical plan to ensure final victory in the field. Blackadder: Ah. Would this brilliant plan involve us climbing out of our trenches and walking very slowly towards the enemy? Captain Darling: How could you possibly know that, Blackadder? It's classified information! Blackadder: It's the same plan that we used last time and the seventeen times before that. Melchett: Exactly! And that is what is so brilliant about it! It will catch the watchful Hun totally off guard! Doing precisely what we've done eighteen times before is exactly the last thing they'll expect us to do this time! There is, however, one small problem. Blackadder: That everyone always gets slaughtered in the first ten seconds.

Comfortably the better side first half. 1 down to a clear bit of cheating when their lad dived over a leg. Awful decision imo.

Agreed. I'm just currently finding solace in reading the post above yours about the Blackadder scene.

What a difference an hour makes . At 3.30pm I was delighted that we had kept a clean sheet for 30 mins after last weekends result . An hour later and we have conceded another three although we have just pulled one back . 😩😩

Again defensively not good enough as the third and fourth goals showed, no picking up the opposition players at all. Coley must score that chance one on one with the keeper. Now Matt must have it out with these players because the performances are not good enough I’m afraid and also these are the sort of teams we should be getting something from, but still think Matt will get it right.⚽️⚽️⚽️
