New signing in midfield where we clearly need help, especially given Eastmond’s absence. Hopefully he comes in fit and ready to go. Got some decent experience and should technically be in his prime at 29.

Have this down as an excellent signing, was on trial at QPR/Reading and Stockport in pre-season I’ve read. Was at Wycombe for many years.
Hopefully goes into the squad for Saturday.

Doubt he will come in to the starting line up on Saturday, as he's not played competitive football this season, so will need time to get match fit.
I expect he'll get 20 mins on Saturday.

I hope the signing does not point to another injury. I note someone here has referred to Craig Eastmonds departure hope this is a miss description of someone on long term injury be a sad day indeed should Craig depart the club

Well, he is not out of contract during the season for no reason one would think, But worth a try giving him a chance here and I imagine he has a lot of experience. Even if he is injury-prone, getting a few games out of him while Eastmond is out could help us a bit. It also works as a bit of a statement from the club under the current position.

The only players that can be signed until the January transfer window opens are those who are out of contract.
England international Andros Townsend only signed for Luton two weeks ago. Being out of contract says nothing about player quality, all sorts of factors could have applied

This thread is going well so far!!

I wonder if this signing is simply cover for Eastmond or a required position to address what Matt felt was lacking.
To be fair I think N'Guessan has looked pretty good, as has Clay at times. But perhaps its the off-ball work we do not notice as much and is picked up on more when addressing their tactics.

I’m going to say it if no-one else will.
Will he plug the gaping hole in our midfield.
(Sorry)

Looks like a quality signing to me. Let's hope he stays fit. As for Eastmond leaving i think not. He has just had an op so will be out for several months.

One test is which Sutton players would other clubs' managers want in their sides. Of the new signings, surely you'd have to say the likes of Patrick and Smith over N'Guessan and Clay.
