I see it rather differently but respect other’s views Either we have a good enough squad or we need a complete overhaul. Either way the only facts that are important seem to be to me that we are bottom of the league, three wins all year and two wins from safety with nearly half the season done. So are we planning for a first year back in the NL or trying to stay up. If the latter something drastic needs to change
Hope I’m wrong…

We are also a club which is tiny compared to most teams in this league, or have not got an owner with loads of spare cash like a few of the other small teams here. So there is only so much we can do. Not only do we have to try and stay up, but also make sure that if we go down we will not collapse. The form we have seen in the second quarter of this season is better than the last quarter of last season and first quarter of this season, so our servival will depend on how we can keep that going. We are not going to afford any master strokes in the January and I imagine it will be about covering injuries and thickening the squad more than any significant changes. We have the best squad of players we have had so need to hope the recent improvements continue and prove to be enough. It is strange that Omari P is on the bench and I imagine if there are any big changes then it could be him moving on on loan or something, which could allow us to spend those wages on someone who will play more games, as we a certainly in no position for luxury players.

I’d agree we need a left back and probably a centre back. Personally I’d send back Bouzanis, no offence, good servant and all that but Arnold put on the best display I’ve seen this season, first time we’ve had someone with a bit of a physical presence in there. It will mean a touch of room in the budget. And a couple of outs can be found otherwise where players aren’t up to standard. But I can’t see anything too drastic. Problem is of course finding the players of sufficient quality given the mess we’re in.

I think I read on this forum the investment was 400,000 ($/£?) so I doubt the potential loss of the major revenue stream as result of going down will sit lightly with him or the other board members.
So do we throw more money at problem gambling on significant increased tv money by staying up to right the ledger or do we carry the debt we have now from the loss making seasons into non-league, service that debt with parachute payments and see what happens.

Ben Hautt, invested £400,000 in new shares in Sutton Utd. So it is not a debt to him. See the U's v Tranmere programme for his photo and background.

I meant the current debt carried by the club as it has operated at a loss for the past a seasons. Ben Hautt invested not loaned the club his money but will, like all investors want a return on his investment. Over here there are a number of brokers kicking around non-league and lower league investment opportunities, including the whole Havant club so there are plenty of choices available with differing RoE so something made him attracted to SUFC. ‘

How do you suppose they would get one? Anything one off (say like a Man U away tie in the Fa Cup) would just be recycled into the many things we’d like to do as a club but can’t currently afford. Virtually all clubs at this level are run at some sort of loss. The investor concerned would also have had his eyes wide open investing at the time he did. And I’d imagine the board would only be open to working with someone on a longer term basis.

Spend £100k of that £400k on someone that can get the best from the players and strip out some of the back room staff? We seem to have developed the back room team but that investment is not resulting in improved performances. In fact the opposite.

Should we be looking to free up space in our squad list, assuming funding is available for a replacement, surely Dundas would be the obvious one to dispense with, keeping him for his other role at the club? Wonderful servant on the pitch in his time but that boat has now sailed and, despite our lengthy injury list, he's not even made a cameo substitute league appearance this season.

We need to bring in a commanding centre back in the January window. A younger version of Jamie Collins or Simon Downer. It might go a long way to stabilising our defence.

I do not have much faith in a January window unless there is a sudden large pot of transfer fee money available equivalent to a lotto win. Gillingham had that fortune with a new owner pumping money in last season and got out of trouble. The odds of a lotto win is tiny. In my view if any players are coming in they must be used to efl football highly skilled and fit so ready to go from day one, (unlike last year) and be ready to accept a national league contract if things do not work out etc. Such players are in short supply but I wish Matt good hunting and trust Mr Bullivant as director of football has been earning his corn lining 3 or 4 up.

I wonder whether we have received some money from Blackpool for Kouassi to add to the pot?

I wonder whether we have received some money from Blackpool for Kouassi to add to the pot? Not sure why you've posted directly after yourself, but from what I'm aware, the answer is no. I've heard that Blackpool are being especially difficult.

Sad to see people lose their job but maybe it’s time for the head coach, strength and fitness coach, full time physio and nutritionist to go. If we’re stuck with the existing squad maybe increase the win bonus as an incentive. At least if/when we go down we will have saved some money.
Should we be expecting a statement from the club supporting the management team soon?
