Happy Christmas everyone. Here's a bit of light-hearted fun for you then.
How many English counties have you watched Sutton play in? (And by that I mean which counties Sutton were playing in at the time you were watching, not which county you were sitting in watching Sutton on ifollow 😁)
Before we start bickering over the definition of a county, we're going for the 48 ceremonial counties, minus City of London which I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong) has no football grounds. This leaves the following 47:
Bedfordshire
Berkshire
Bristol
Buckinghamshire
Cambridgeshire
Cheshire
Cornwall
Cumbria
Derbyshire
Devon
Dorset
County Durham
East Riding of Yorkshire
East Sussex
Essex
Gloucestershire
Greater Manchester
Hampshire
Herefordshire
Hertfordshire
Isle of Wight
Kent
Lancashire
Leicestershire
Lincolnshire
Merseyside
Norfolk
North Yorkshire
Northamptonshire
Northumberland
Nottinghamshire
Oxfordshire
Rutland
Shropshire
Somerset
South Yorkshire
Staffordshire
Suffolk
Surrey
Tyne and Wear
Warwickshire
West Midlands
West Sussex
West Yorkshire
Wiltshire
Worcestershire
I don't believe Sutton have ever played in Rutland (again please correct me if I'm wrong) so nobody will score that point. See how many you can get - name one club for each county you've watched Sutton in. I'll do a separate post for mine...

I wonder if they play football there in the winter

Merry Christmas Sallycat. I'm ashamed to say that only Northamptonshire, Kent, Hampshire East Sussex and Surrey apply.
Does it count that I lived in Ambleside for a while though?

Surrey (Walton-on Thames), Bucks (Aylesbury), Oxfordshire (Oxford City), Bristol (Bristol Rovers), Essex (Heybridge). Kent (Maidstone), West Sussex (Horsham), Wiltshire (Swindon), Bristol (Bristol Rovers), Somerset (Yeovil), Worcestershire (Kidderminster), Hampshire (Eastleigh), Dorset (Dorchester), Northamptonshire (Northampton Town), Suffolk (Bury), Cambridgeshire (Cambridge Utd), Hertfordshire (St Albans), Gloucestershire (Cheltenham), East Sussex (Eastbourne).
About to add Devon. A touch southern centric 😂 Think Lowestoft may shade Kidderminster as the furthest north I’ve been following the U’s.

All except Rutland, Northumberland, and IoW and Leicestershire (plus the old county of Middlesex) You beat me by one, which I assume is due to Norwich City. Old counties don't count of course, because the old Middx grounds would now give you a point for Greater London/Surrey

County Dublin - they have a hurling and football team in the GAA so I guess that counts too?

In 1965 I made the long trip to Whitley Bay to see Sutton in the Amateur cup, Whitley Bay was in Northumberland at that time, now of course it's in Tyne and Weir
