Ok now all the excitement of beating Wimbledon is still fresh lets see if we can continue in this manner against a Gillingham team that started the season well but dropped off the pace. For me this is an important 3 match series to haul ourselves back up the table so we don't get cut adrift. Win here and with a winnable match against Newport we will give ourselves a huge boost.
More of the same please Jason. The fans are right behind you!

Just a reminder that there aren't any tickets on sale to Sutton supporters at the ground on Friday night so tickets must be bought in advance. The club office will be open from 10am to 5pm tomorrow, and from 10am to 11am on Friday, for the sale of tickets. They can be also be bought on line but tickets bought on line will then need to be collected from the away turnstiles at the end of Priestfield Road on Friday.

We're now entering the second half of the league season: 23 matches played, 23 to go. We've amassed only 17 points, and need around another 30 to stay up. That Wimbledon win was something of a lifeline, but we need to stay within catching distance of at least one club above us. That won't be easy, with a tricky-looking run of fixtures taking us into February. We can but hope that the Wimbledon result wasn't a flash in the pan (like Walsall at home), and that the momentum from Boxing Day will give us a boost in north Kent on Friday evening.
I'm unconvinced that Gillingham were wise to sack Neil Harris in October; their form has been patchy since Stephen (son of Ray) Clemence took over, and they've lost their last two home games 2-0 (to Bradford then Crawley). They are the division's lowest scorers with just 19 league goals this season, which is fewer than one per game. They do have the joint 6th-best defence (30 conceded) - but Wimbledon's is the joint 3rd-best (24), and we managed to score against them.
If our team plays with the same energy that we saw at Plough Lane, with no burn-out, there must be a good chance of us getting something from this game.

Let’s hope away wins are like London buses. Another win here would give us a huge surge of belief and confidence. Fingers crossed for another performance. Hopefully no new injury concerns as 3 or 4 work themselves back to match fitness.

Parking in the side roads seems to be restricted until 8pm in a lot of roads nearby. There seems to be parking at Gillingham station and a local Car park in Trafalgar street, both close to the ground for a nominal amount.

Rail update: I gather there are no trains out of St Pancras to Kent because of flooding in a tunnel. Trains from Cannon St/London Bridge are running normally.

Is it me missing something or is there no commentary on the video link to the match?

H-T. At least Gillingham have contrived to play worse since we went down to 10.

Think it’s a harsh red card (again) - studs up but foot on the ground and cleanly won the ball. Seen far worse go unpunished or just yellow. Ref’s quick to get red out against us as deemed a physical team. Nothing like as bad as the one on Hart on 23/12 by a Mansfield player that caught him thigh high.
The split second before 2 players made the exact same challenge with the ball in the middle.
Sloppy start with some terrible defensive bits we got away with, but we had started to get into it at the time of the sending off, indeed Smith had 2 presentable chances, think he should be scoring 1.
Bouzanis has had his critics but at least 1 very good save, also their other glaring chance was given as a corner - if he saved that too it was 2 very good saves.

Colchester, Doncaster, Salford and Forest Green are all losing.
Time for when Sutton beat said Salford 2-1 with ten men to happen?

Call it a harsh red if you want but it was a nailed on yellow and just as likely to be called as a red. It wasn't worth the risk. And Refs specifically having it in for us is victim mentality, which gets no one anywhere.

It's his opinion that matters.

It was reckless and unnecessary at best. Gillingham players were always going to react as they did and the ref as he did.
