All that undoubtedly true but I’m still thinking a top level clean up and an off season should have it in good nick again? You’d hope the weather can’t be as wet as this season next time round . . . but all perhaps even more unpredictable these days. Agree, good after season renovation work will be required. The amount dependent on the damage already done. No doubt the club will have this in hand and as you say a top level clean up / rejuvenation will be completed to the required spec for this particular pitch. Of course the weather has been no help at all and perhaps business decisions have dictated the amount of use the pitch has contended with recently? Let’s hope that lessons have been learnt. What ever they say this type of pitch does require more time and specific maintenance than with procedures on older traditional playing surfaces, and a bit of luck with the weather!

Two questions have to be asked about the starting XI. Why play Jack Taylor, highly promising though he may be, when the more experienced Omar Sowunmi was on the bench? Jack did OK, but was substituted for Omar at h-t. And why, in a home match we really needed to win, did we play Harry Smith as a lone striker? He had pretty much zero impact, and Olly Sanderson was brought on alongside him for the second half - not that this made a big difference to our attacking threat. 1, Omari has been recovering from illness and surgery and thus was not able to play 90m, hence when Taylor has been rushed in. 2, I think you answered your own question. We don't really have a goal scorer. I imagine Steve thinks that using lots of bodies on the wings and pushing the likes of Lakin and Eastmond forward, is just as affective.. I presume you mean Omar instead of Omari, right?

Apart from Craig, Harry, Jon Barden and maybe Jo Kizzi no one else will want to be at the club next season. And you know this how?

Given the level of disappointment at the moment there is a commendable lack of supporters being downright disrespectful towards other supporters on this thread.
With a slight exception.

As this is a forum I thought I might give an opinion. So that's just your opinion then? Not based on anything concrete?

Apart from Craig, Harry, Jon Barden and maybe Jo Kizzi no one else will want to be at the club next season. To be fair, Should we be back in the Nat league, the lure of league football will no longer be there, part time wages introduced again for many, I would imagine. And the team left in poor form with it all to do, as well as many other clubs offering them a fresh start, I would be inclined to think you are correct. Perhaps a few of the long standing players who have grown comfortable here may stay, or Perhaps some might have a sporting lure to stick around and see better outcomes, which is doubtful. My guess is we revert back to up and coming players and giving players a second chance to prove themselves at that level with us. So we may see a very new looking squad next year. Time will tell.

And if we do play NL football next year, given our parachute payments and the fact that many of the big budget teams like Wrexham, NC, Stockport, Chesterfield (very likely) will no longer be there, would we find ourselves at less of a financial disadvantage than the last time we particpiated? Who are the big budget clubs in there now any way?

Take a look at the most recent accounts. The clubs situation as of may 2023 was not amazing . And as the team have not performed well in league or cups this season it is not unfair to assume the situation is the same or slightly worse. So dropping into the non league would see us carrying a fair bit of commitment that would need to be paid back. But with less income stream. So no matter where we play next season. My reading of the accounts is that we won’t be able to afford to be making waves. Even with parachute payments. Of course in the past year they may of found someone to pay off everything so we may be level now. But I can’t see it. The club just is not making any profit according to its official documents.

As I have said before, we should stay as we are now and with our parachute payment have a real go at getting back. It won’t be easy but with the right commitment from the board think we can be right up there and for the doom mongers out there, the board have said they have made mistakes but do you really think they will let the club slide, me think not.⚽️⚽️⚽️

Am I right in saying there still have to be ground changes with increased seating capacity even if relegated to the NL, or does that requirement only apply if the club stays up in L2?

I strongly believe that these are conversations to be had for the end of the season and not whilst there are 9 games to play. Whilst our situation is not looking great we could still put a winning run together.
I'm sure all the supporters travelling up to Crewe tomorrow won't have given up hope.
