Saturday sees us host fellow strugglers Grimsby in what’s possibly our last chance saloon. Another of these so-called must-win games which haven’t managed to see out yet (reference to the Doncaster and Colchester games).
Grimsby won last week in a crunch match against Forest Green and then went on to pick up a useful point away at AFC Dons. We’ve never beaten Grimsby but then again we’d never beaten Notts County/Walsall or Bradford before this season..
We haven’t won in the league at GGL since late October, so if we can get over the line on Saturday would surely give us a big lift as we head into the last 6 weeks or so of the season.
Player selection-wise - was Goodliffe taken off as precaution last Saturday or did he appear injured?

Simply put we need to win all our remaining home league games without exception. That would put us on 41 points. Realistically we'll need to get a few points on the road.
Note that winning every game from now to the end of the season would give us a maximum of 56 points

According to the predicted final table 43 points will do it. lol Sadly we can't rely on football web pages predictions. However if we win and Colchester lose then we will be just 3 points adrift.

As has been said this is a must win match or else we cannot make the play-offs again .

Unfortunately for us, Grimsby have tightened up their defence recently. They conceded 21 goals in their first six games of 2024, including a 6-1 home defeat by Walsall and a 5-5 v Notts County. In their last three games they've only conceded once, drawing 0-0 at Wimbledon on Tuesday evening.
Better news for us is that they've only scored four in their last six games.
I'm not anticipating a classic.

I'm not anticipating a classic. I can do without classic - just need the win, which will be classic enough for me.

Lets hope it is theirs, otherwise the Cod Army (once described in a Lincoln programme as the Cleethorpes Glee Corps) will not be back at GGL for a while.

That was one poor performance today, played a bit better second half, but that’s not saying much. Weren’t four Arnold we could have conceded five, yes the pitch was poor but same for both sides like I said before. Our final ball was so poor and a debatable penalty got us the goal. I’m just so frustrated with that performance why I’m a bit critical. Hey ho we did not lose, some how..⚽️

No doubt the 27 points to play for brigade will be out again, but nowt in that performance to suggest anything but 24th. As bad as anything under gray. If Grimsby had more quality up front and weren't up against an inspired keeper, who has to be our number 1 next season, it could've been an absolute hammering.
For me there's to many loanees who don't really care one way or another. We sent the best one back, and only lakin is an improvement on what we had. The rest are not good enough to make a difference.
One thing I like about morison is he won't accept a first half performance like clay's. He was gassed 10 minutes in and constantly half a second off the pace. He can clear off along with most of this squad in the summer. Very few of them should be here next season. Arnold, easty and a handful more.
I have faith Morison will make us competitive once he builds his own team but its clear he's not going to get us out of the bottom 2.

Two comments for the two camps amongst our supporters . Firstly the deluded ones …… We got a point and Colchester lost so we are moving closer to escaping relegation although the down side is that the play offs are now out of reach . Secondly for us realists ……. WTF . Baboonfish has said it so well that there is nothing that I can add .
Looking forward to a day of rain tomorrow to improve my mood 😤😢.

Man of the match,Arnold. Again after Tranmere's game last Saturday. Must be number one next season. Agree, Baboonfish has said it all.

Not sure that Morrison set us up well for the match. The buck stops with him with this draw.

Even if FG, Colchester and Grimsby each lose every remaining match I can’t see how we can even get close to catching them.
