Why was the gate on to the Park not open at end of Game. I nearly missed My bus at Bus Garage. I after walking, out then main entrance, I still walk through park to get to my bus. On other days, I normally exit that way to visit my Sister off Colingwood Road. I was not the only supporter who live that way who were angry.

There are times the police advise to close it, when I questioned it before my main gripe was lack of communication (the stewards at gate just said had to use other gates) Apparently those extra few minutes of us walking round is enough for the dangers to pass. Frustrating and I know people won't always agree, but I'm fairly sure it's the answer to the Q.

If there was trouble at the main entrance, this gate should be open. Does your risk assessment cover this. As a youth leader, my risk assessment would have unlocked the gate. It appeared from the outside that the padlock was on.

It's not my risk assessment, it's the Chief Safety Officer's.
If padlocked, I believe but don't actually know, that the steward may have a key for use in an emergency.
I didn't say I agreed with it just that, as I understand it, that is the reason.

The Club works with the police and has a responsibility for the safety of the public and upholding the law. Unfortunately we have attracted an element of supporters that, in addition to supporting the Club, are looking to cause trouble and "engage" with away supporters leaving the ground. Unfortunately there were ugly scenes after the Colchester fixture where Sutton fans leaving Gate B, on Parkside, choose to hide under hoodies and scarves and confront the away fans causing police interaction. It is probable these are the same fans who are responsible for the repeated behavior of setting off pyrotechnics within the stadium and creating the potential 5 figure fines to the Club when we could really do with any income used to support the team and consolidate the Club within the EFL. Yet again we had a flare incident in the stadium which is not only dangerous but will be in the referee's report and causes extra work - and possible sanction to the Club - for me next week. To be clear - and I suspect none of the offenders will be visiting here - anyone found in possession of, or setting off, pyrotechnics within our stadium can expect a lengthy ban from attending matches, and a potential criminal record if caught. Perhaps they might choose to engage with the Club and explain how this behaviour is beneficial to the Club - and benefit supporters like yourself in simply wishing to get home promptly - but I make no apology in making the decision to prevent potential breaches of law and order even where that disadvantages law abiding supporters and members of the public. We really don't want to be making it more difficult for new fans to join our supporter base, but we can't afford the fines, and the additional cost of police presence and action, when managing our games, and I hope the majority of well behaved and true supporters assist us in eradicating this form of "support". in the meantime you can continue, unfortunately, to be disadvantaged by the decisions I had to make today.

Unfortunately it never takes many to spoil it for the majority . If caught they should be made by the courts to pay any fines imposed by the EFL on the club but as we all know the magistrates etc will not do this unfortunately . Getting off my soap box now !

Quite ridiculous that recently a person was arrested and sent to court for using offensive language at one home game, before apologizing. He was later prosecuted with an 800 fine and banned from football for 3 years. Yet lads can repeatedly smuggle in and light up pyrotechnics without being caught, potentially being dangerous and costing the club a lot of money while causing these kind of disruptions. All sounds pretty monty python to me.

Maybe the person you describe in question won't use offensive language from now on though.

I believe fans under the age of 16 who come to matches cannot be searched and therefore they are the ones bringing in flares. It is frustrating for the police and the stewards, but until that law changes the only chance of catching the offenders is to stand in that area of the ground and watch for a flare being set off and pointing out the offender. I doubt that will happen and although none of us want relegation maybe it will rid us of some of the "new" and quite frankly unwelcome supporters who are causing the club unnecessary grief and possible fines. Time will tell I guess.

They should just ban all unaccompanied children under 18. All children should have to have a parent or guardian with them now. That would stop the yoof thinking that they are ultras.

If that were a rule I'd never have become a Sutton fan.
Anyway, some of the parents are as bad as their kids!
