The line-up for the first hour included a few academy players. Trailing 2-1, we introduced a stronger XI on the hour. Unfortunately we conceded a third goal from a free kick, but put the home defence under a fair amount of pressure during the closing stages. I agree with Stewart: don't read too much into this result.

Are we going to sign the guy that scored 2 against us ( it's happened before)? Three different scorers Original X post had the free kick guy scoring twice

I write this from a position of not having attended this game , just to make it clear . I would just love it if SUFC were to win every match they ever played but as we all know this is never possible for any team let alone ours ! So , with this in mind I am happy for pre season matches to be lost because it will highlight to SM and the management team where changes and formations need to be tweaked for the real thing . Better to lose friendlies than the real thing I say . Couldn't agree more; I always say the same about pre-season games. They're an opportunity to experiment with your squad and see what works and what doesn't, and also to help the management team identify weak spots that need to be worked on. What would we learn if we won every PSF 4-0? What would be the point of having those games?

Another factor is match fitness. Hence you want to get as many minutes into as many players during the pre-season. So another reason to constantly change the line up, both between and during games.
