Link www.suttonunited.net/womens-section-update/As promised, we can now announce our new first eleven home venue for the coming season in the L&SERWL. We are delighted to confirm that we have agreed with Chipstead FC that they will host our home games and we thank them very much for all their cooperation in making this happen. As mentioned in a previous thread, we would really like to put a Matchday Stadium Manager in place to make sure that everything off the field runs just as smoothly as Lucy will be trying to ensure it goes on the pitch. email me on dave.farebrother@suttonunited.net Our Reserve team in the SECWFL will play home games in Collingwood Recreation Ground, under joint managers Ian Bowerman and Ben White.

Not the easiest ground to get too if you don’t have a car.
I’ll probably be watching CPFC women anyway this year.

I agree, very disappointed but not at all surprised.
I’ll be getting my Sunday women's football fix by watching Fulham or Palace or even Carshalton Athletic.

Sadly we were limited for choices as to appropriate venues. Trust me when I say we explored plenty of avenues. Some clubs closer to us wanted £500 for a pitch and £700 for a midweek game! Chipstead whilst I appreciate is not the most accessible has a really good playing surface and is a really nice club. I like you would love for us to play at GGL but understand the situation

For better or worse it’s seemingly standard practice. Arsenal, Palace and West Ham play games at Boreham Wood, Sutton and Dagenham. This is no different, just further down the ladder. For all the clubs it’s driven by economics.
Maybe transport links to Chipstead aren’t great but it’s a nice, secure and safe venue. They will let us personalise it a little and it’s a base our players can call home, removing the uncertainty we have faced about where our next game will be.
Hopefully it will help us build a steady following.

Arsenal are playing more games at The Emirates and Aston Villa are playing all 11 of their 2024-25 WSL home games at Villa Park, up from five last season 🏟
Palace might do the same as Sutton can hold only 5,000 spectators.
West Ham aren’t bothered as they don’t play any matches at The London Stadium.

Do you think they'll attract more fans playing at Chipstead? Arsenal et al have shown repeatedly that it's the other way round.

Not if Palace are playing there surely. It would really bugger up the pitch.

Damage caused by Womens football to the pitch is minimal. Ask any groundsman and they would have Womens matches over mens every day of the week.

Are the women training at Chipstead as well? No we train Tuesday night in Cobham and Thursday nights currently in Walton but soon to move to Croydon. Getting the right facilitie closer to home has deemed mission impossible sadly.

Twelve players unavailable and lost 4-2 in a friendly away to a Bromley team strengthened by an influx of players from a higher level.
