Yes great interview, and also great news on the managers two year extension. Let’s hope he stays for quite a few years and really builds something here, because what I have heard, the board have big plans.⚽️

Thank you both. Suspect you only say that because you could actually hear both of sides of conversation so it was a better start than Josh's one.......

The timing of the decision to extend those contracts looks odd to me. Surely it would have been more prudent to wait until we're three months or so into the new season. If we're at the top end of the table then, and in decent form, that would be the time to talk about extending managerial contracts. What we have instead is a hostage to fortune.

It shows a commitment from the club and a commitment from Steve, and a level of stability we need going forward. We don't know what clauses are in said contract extension. If we are top of the league after 3 months and in decent form as you suggest, then that could easily be a trigger for a bigger club to come along and poach him, which would leave us in a difficult position again. A 2 year contract extension has made that much more difficult.

I'm sure that Steve welcomes the stability that it gives to him personally.

Makes sense given that he's just completely overhauled the squad. Can you imagine someone coming in with a different style of play and overhauling again? These kinds of rebuilds can't happen every season. A 3 year plan to get back into the EFL is totally sensible, and assuming we don't struggle at the wrong end, that would be a fair time span to judge whether it has been a success or failure.

Good move, It will likely mean it would take a big offer from another club to take him away should he have a great season with us. And no sign of us needing to move him on any time soon..

Steve reserves his contract, very nearly pulled off a miracle.
