OK, I'll kick this one off.
Our record at Eastleigh is poor, with our only win at the Silverlake coming in the 2007/08 Conference South relegation season. We lost on our last visit, in the 2020/21 National League promotion season.
The Spitfires have won their first four matches this season and top the table, though yesterday they were without their talismanic striker Paul McCallum through injury, and so he must be doubtful for tomorrow. They still won 1-0 at Altrincham, though the NLP report of that match mentions a few chances that went begging for the home side, and Eastleigh had to rely on a penalty to take the three points.

It is perhaps a surprise to see Eastleigh top of the table with a 100% record. I don't believe we should be too concerned by their start or our poor record at their place. I will stick my head on the chopping block and say we will take all 3 points. No doubt we will rotate a few.

Thanks to the website people for putting a link to Mixlr into the preview.
It's almost too early to say but looking at the teams that Eastleigh have beaten, there's no one scary. Alty look the best of that bunch and we did OK against them. I think we can get something today.

I thought we were excellent, my first live sight this season. Confidence rising. Eastleigh were properly happy with the point last 15-20 and playing solely on the break like an away side. How the ball didn’t go in during the succession of last minute corners I will never know!
Bradbrook looks like a helluva player. I don’t think I’ve seen a Sutton side play like that before. We’ve got a decent squad of players and Steve is confident using them all and it’s great he’s getting everyone involved. That will help hopefully keep players fresh, mean less injuries and of course ensure competition for places is high.
Just a couple of lapses/casual pieces of play. And I guess a question of can we break down 11 men sitting deep behind the ball. They didn’t exactly deal well with our flurry of corners at the end, perhaps a couple of times we might have overplayed/over complicated it a touch. But overall really happy to see that sort of performance 5 games in.

Thought Sutton played very well this afternoon and over the 90 was the better side. Finley was excellent in midfield while we were a threat down the flanks.
Have to give a nod to this squad because even though SM rotates a fair bit, and rightly so with the recent schedule, the performance level is maintained.
Fantastic goal from Eduino. Our left backs continue to contribute to the goals column.
Tyler French impressed at right back.
The only blot was their goal. Not convinced the crosser was inside when he received but we didn't do enough to stop it and McCallum's header was emphatic. It was probably their first effort of note on goal.
Eastleigh did threaten more after the break but Steve Arnold made a couple of decent stops. How we didn't score from any of those three corners at the end I have no idea.
Hope Matt Rush is ok.
As for the ref, he must worship at the altar of Paul MCCallum. A stray elbow here, kicked the ball away and then that blatant hack, nothing. Frenchy kicks ball away and gets booked. And how did their 8 not get booked for what he did in the first half? Then Jayden Harris gets booked for a bloody good tackle. Shocking, homer performance from the ref. Worst we have had this season by a street. Must be looking for promotion to the EFL.
All in all a good point and so close to all three and Sutton was the only side of the two who claim to deserve the victory.
Another very good away turn out from the fans too.
Well done to all.

The second draw of the Bank Holiday weekend, but this game was quite different from Saturday's. Against York, we didn’t have as much of the ball as we'd have liked, so couldn't really get the press going. Today we had plenty of the ball in the first 35 minutes, pressed, and took the lead through another eye-catching strike from Eduino Vaz. But after Eastleigh had equalised from their first notable chance, we lost some momentum. That goal, almost inevitably, came from the head of the returning Paul McCallum. There was a strong suspicion of offside in the build-up, but McCallum was able to exploit an inviting gap in our defence.
Eastleigh are an experienced, physical and streetwise side, qualities that this Sutton side lacks a little, and for a spell in the second half they threatened to wrest control of the match. (Our cause wasn't helped by a refereeing performance that could be described as indulgent towards the home team.) Steve Arnold made two point-blank saves, though his opposite number McDonnell also had to be alert to thwart Davies and Vaz. Then, as the game entered its closing stages, the pendulum swung back our way. Having made several changes to the starting XI, Steve was able to bring on Harris, Simper, Sivi and Waller, and they injected fresh energy into the side. The series of Sutton corners in stoppage time saw the bar struck twice and brought a superb save from McDonnell. So close!
An away point against the league leaders is a very satisfactory return, but the outcome could so easily have been different.
We are back up to 3rd.

Good prediction Sol 👍 Good point Sutton 🤎💛 If it wasn’t for that outstanding save from the Eastleigh GK we would have won 2-1! Top save..

From the Eastleigh forum...🙄
Sutton are a very good team who I expect to finish in the top 5 this season. They play good football but irritate me in the same way as Barnet in that they are prone to diving and whinging. Their captain was in the face of the ref for most of the first half. Fortunately I thought the ref was excellent, he didn't stand for any of that stuff.

😂 Shows we all see games how we want to. I thought the tackle in the area was more of a foul than the one our guy was booked for and we should have had a penalty.

Top of the table. I thought Eastleigh were the poorest team we have played so far! That's not to take anything away from Sutton's performance which was very good !

Interesting match report on our site. I made it 7 changes with Coley in as well. Can’t agree that Eastleigh enjoyed the better of things for much of the 2nd half. They had a bit of control for a short period and countered on occasion but I’d say we were still on top most the half by the end. Obviously they had to shore things up for the 2nd half as their manager admitted and essentially shut up shop after a while whilst trying to nick it on the break.
